Manpower needed on Barren FEB. 24th

Will be joining forces w/ USACE on a fish habitat work day on Feb. 24 @ Barren River Lake beginning @ 9 AM @ the Peninsula Marina/ramp (believe you have helped us with this event before). Will be putting in brushpiles & stakebeds. Will have materials (trees, stakes, blocks, etc.) on site. Just need bodies to assist in placement.
    Thanks

Re: Manpower needed on Barren FEB. 24th

Is this something that happens each year? I fish Barren probably 80% of the time. I'd love to help out this year, but I'm kinda "under the weather" for a few weeks.

I have several buddies that would be willing to help out too, so keep me in mind for next year. It's always good to get out on the lake, well barring that it's not frozen.....

Man, guys do you never go to Barren when it is low? That lake is so full of cover now it is not funny. Just looks like if Fish and Wildlife had money to spend on Habitat improvement it would try to put it in Lake cumberland. Most of what little cover it has is 10 -20 feet up the bank.
    Just a thought...............

this is not a funded event either by corps of KY Fish and wildlife everything is donated and labor is voluntary (unless you are my kids) the stuff you see on the 12-20 foot range isn't really the goal it is places for the fry and smaller game fish to hide on the main lake not the old river channel
second by the time the Cumberland project is over it will have tons of trees and grass that will be growing in water.

Yea by the time it is over, but right now is when it needs it most. The fry this spring will be in trouble when it comes to looking for places to hide. Glad to hear it is a donated project ,means people care and are doing something about it.
    Keep up the good work....
