Shakey Head

I finally went out and bought an ultra-light setup, 6'6 meduim spinning rod, with a plugger spinning reel. Tru-tungsted ikey heads, 6lb test line, shakey worms, finnesse worms, the works. So can anyone tell me when is the best time to utilize this type of fishing, is spring typically the best time? do you work points, rip raps, visible structure, etc. Any help would be appreciated. I thought i would try this method after i saw Luke make g-man cry like a baby when he wooped his butt, that guy is really a jerk, cant believe he was talking about wearing a skirt to Luke, when Luke was beating him like a b**** that he is. When the bite is slow I turn to a shakey head, during any season. You can really fish them anywhere but I like to use them around cover where I feel/know bass are holding. the slight movements is what makes them hit it. I also throw it on rock/gravel banks.

the ikey heads are ok, but they have a very weak hook, keep checking your point on the hook.

I use Spot Remover Shakey Heads and Omega makes a mean shakey head jig. I like them best on big ledge dropoffs and bluff walls.

I use one I make myself because I did not like the others. I sure was not going to pay what they ask for them when I can make them myself. As far as where and when, something you just have to try I have not found any time or type of cover they will not work at the right time. But like all baits I have seen times they will not touch them.

I agree with the ledges and bluffs I also like to use them on bright sunny days at the very end of a long point you can't fish these too slow

Does that have anything to do with a new type of spinnerbait? LOL! I hate the shakey head! Its way too slow! LOL!

I dont think there is ever a bad time to pick up the shakey head. It can be fished at any depth, cover or structure, slow or fast. I always keep one tied on with either a tube or a finesse worm. Love to work it around docks. Sometimes the amount of shake will determine the bite, a soft suttle shake is good sometimes, others, rattle it like you are ripping a jig.

We were fishing a tournament last summer....90+ air temps...90 degree water temps. Had 2 fish at noon. Went to an old pit with steep drop off
(4' to 25' feet) and fished the shaky head (1/4 oz. spot remover jig with finesse worm) for the FIRST TIME. Loaded the boat over and over. Culled approximately 5 or 6 fish in two hours to win the tournament. Now I have yet to replicate that day but it made me a true believer in the tactic. I'm loaded down this year with a variety of shaky head jigs and finesse worms.

I have never used them, but have heard nothing but good things about this type setup when fishing is slow or tough, it will put a few fish over the rail. I have never heard of the omega jigs, but going to do a search on goggle and try and check them out. I have been reading and studying about the spot remover shakey head jigs in the stand up style. It looks like that this style jig would make the bait stand on it's head, which is perfect for what it is suppose to do. Any of you guys fish the stand up jigs or is the round ball better to work with and produce. I am fixing to try to find me some and try them, but would like to hear your comments on the stand up style or the round ball, whether pro or con...Thanks
