    Laurel River Lake info ?????

Well it seems the Smallies are gettin to plentiful at Laurel and I would love to go catch some of em however, I dont know squat about that lake. So I am asking for you guys to open up and help me out if ya can. Planning on spending a weekend there in about 2 weeks. I dont want your hot spots just a lil help on when they come up and start to feed good and like main lake creeks or cuts. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanx

I'm not much help, but I just went there for the first time this week. What struck me was how clear the water was - especially after the big rains late last week. I'll bet you could see almost 10 ft down. That doesn't work so well when the sun is shining and there's not a cloud in the sky. Saw lots of trout, but don't think we ever got near a smallmouth. It's a beautiful lake, though.

Laurel is in its own an aquired taste. Kind of like sushi LOL. This time of year fishing can be really tough. If the warming trend continues and the water can get up in the 50's you can look to start throwing deep cranks around the ledges and deep points. I like anything red and me and my partner done well off of them last year. Line creek up to craigs creek are good. Also look for submerged boulders . You will know what I'm talking about when you see them. Keep the jerkbaits handy and again it depends on the water temp and how fast it climbs. Laurel can be really rough but I have had days where I could put 20lbs in the boat and not a single bite the next day. Hope you also like trout for this time of year they really like those cranks as well. Good look on you trip I be out there in a day or two and let you know how the bite is.
