    Dale Hollow

I've not been down in a couple of weeks and was wondering if the fish are still hittin. We was on some nice fish, we fished there for 4 days on vacation and then the next 2 sat. nights after that. We where catching anywhere between 5-10 a night. Are they still holding about 25-35ft deep on grass and pea gravel points??? Thinking about going down this weekend.

Fish the Hollow last Friday night and had 7 good quality Smallies all over 3 with the biggest being 5-4. All caught on Deep flats in aboout 30-35 feet of water. From what Steve Headrick told me, I had the best night on the lake for he did not hear of anyone catching more than 2-3 per boat and even mentioned a 19 boat Blackbass Tourney the same Friday night that had exactly 1 fish weighed in for all 38 fishermen. It happened to be a keeper Smallie but nobody even weighed in a Spot or Greenfish either. 1 fish took all the prizes. I know the 5-4 was over 21 but all the rest were in the slot. Good Luck. You will have a tough weekend this coming with it being between the full and new moons. Dale gets tough this part of the month with the time between the new to the full being better.

I thought that last week was the new moon and the full is the 28th of this month??? I may be wrong but thats what I thought. Sounds like you had a decent night. Always fun to catch any smallies.

New Moon this month is the 12th and the full is the 28th. From my experiences at Dale, the time between the New and Full produces better fishing than the time between the Full and New. Not saying that fish can't be caught, just from what I found I like it from the New to the Full better.

I'm a scuba diver, and have dove a few spots on Dale Hollow. During the hot months, all the fish are down on the bottom right above the grass beds. I've seen alot of bluegill, crappie, and some bass. Most of the coves are relatively shallow, maxing out at 20 to 30 feet. Its the grassbeds that hold the vast majority of the fish.

I've also dove on the rocky shorelines. Those spots are nearly barren of fish. The shore just slants down into the dark abyss of the lake. However, while those spots don't have many fish, they are where I have seen the largest bass swimming. I saw two 5 pound bass just swimming in formation, I didn't even know they did that.

One more note, if you see a red flag with a white diagonal stripe, that means there are scuba divers in the area, so please dont hook them.
