The night bite has been good this past week. Alwives are in the middle of their spawn, and the rocks have the feed bag on. Daytime fishing is early AM only. Bite dies after 9:00 or so. Good luck.

Hey has anyone been down lately? I was thinking about going tonight. I am wondering if the cold front has killed the bite or not. If anyone has any info on the nite bite in the past couple nights please let me know. I appreciate any info. Thanks in advance.

We didn't have much luck with the night fishing. Throwing everything. Maybe in the wrong place.
The morning we've caught everything on the planer boards from catfish, smallmouth, to an actual striper or two. I agree the early morning was good, but both big ones we caught were around 12:00 at 25-30ft next to the shore. We have marked a ton of fish, just not getting them. Although I caught a 40inch, 30lbs. so I'm not complaining.
Good luck.
Troutcrazy, Do you mind if I ask what type of lines you got your mid-day bites on? Planer boards, weights, line out etc. Thanks.
Planer board set at 20ft. deep or so with 1/4oz. weight. Behind the boat at 20-40 yards in increments with 8 rods. We had two dead weight poles one on a big bobber and the others were on 6 planer boards. They seemed to hit best next to the walls/shoreline. At night you could hear and see the striper pushing bait, but we couldn't get a hit...really frustrating.
We started in the Lilly and Wolfe creek in the morning and hit the main lake on the far side across from Jamestown in the afternoon where we got the most action. My friend caught a 24in in the same spot yesterday. Governor's Cove or Point I think is what most people call it. Most guides have said it's a slow bite right now.
I went down last night and had four keeper walleye. We started at 8:30p.m. and by 9:30 had three of the fish. The last fish came around 1:30a.m. and that was it. We could not get a Striper bite. There was some fish busting but, no shad working on the banks where i fished. Got back to the dock and they were working there. We put in at Fall creek and fished that area. Everything i caught came on a Sliver. We quit around 3:00a.m. Good luck and let us know if you do any good.
