I've been looking at the GPS's for some time. I seem to like the 720 and 920 from TomTom. Anyone have another brand or style they like or would recommend?

Thanks, I'll check them out.
If you can use your GPS unit from your boat. Especially if it has an internal antenna. Mine has an external one and with the help of Eddie Goode I was able to copy his idea and now use the one from my boat and it works just great. The only item I had to order to make it work was a cigarette lighter adapter plug for the power source. I use a Lowrance 5200c GPS Unit.
I have a Garmin eTrex Vista GPS handheld unit that works great in the truck. I just stick it up on the dashboard and it works fine there. It can receive signals though the windshield and side window. You only need three satellite signals to get the GPS to work.
I have the Garmin Map Source Data loaded in my computer and then I loaded some of those maps to my gps unit.
I only have a limited amount of built in internal ram memory on my gps but it's enough to show me data about KY lake, Barkley Lake, Patoka Lake and all the roads in Southern IN.
My neighbor has one of the Garmin GPS units that talks to you and tells you where to turn and how far you have to go before you reach your destination.
I used it with him one day while he did his work route. We traveled from Tell City to Owensboro, KY and back to Evansville and it worked great. And if you miss a turn it will recalculate a new route to your destination. I really like it and would buy one if I had to do a lot of traveling. I think he paid around $500 for his. I paid about 300 for mine when I got it new several years ago.
I can use mine out in the boat too or take it with me on a hike though the woods.
They even make topographical digital maps that I can put on my unit.

I second the recommendation for Garmin. My first Garmin product was an on the water GPS/MAP 162; then I got a Street Pilot III and just a few months ago I bought a newer Street Pilot. I also have a Garmin Fishfiner on my boat.
One of the main reasons I have stuck with Garmin is because I had a couple of minor problems with the on-the-water GPS and found out the Garmin's customer support it A-1, Top of the Line, Estremely helpful. Then after I got the Street Pilot III I had trouble figuring out how to install some maps from my computer, called Customer Support and they talked me through every last detail and never tried to rush or talk down to me. Look at the Garmin web site, they have something to meet almost any need.
