What is a white catfish exactly? Is it what is referred to as an albino? I have caught a "white catfish" from a farm pond if I understand terminology. Please explain. Thanks.

I just watched Saturday's KY Afield show. Part of it was filmed at Guist Creek. Tim Farmer was fishing with a gentleman named Donnie Gaines, who caught a new state record white cat while bass fishing. The fish was 1.85 lbs., if I heard him right. If you're reading this, Mr. Gaines, congratulations!
Until I saw this show, I wouldn't really have been able to identify a white catfish. And they said that there probably have been other state record whites caught there, that ended up on somebody's dinner table because they didn't know what they had. I remember one catfish my girlfriend caught there that had a very broad head. Looking back, I'll bet it was a white, but I don't think it was quite that big. I sure hope not...

we fished willisburg lake sunday and after seeing the show sunday afternoon i would almost swear my wife caught a new record white cat while throwing a crankbait in the first finger across from the ramp. i thought it was a channel cat but after seeing the one on tv i would almost bet my life on it that it was a white cat. it probably went 3 pounds. if it was a white cat its still swimming around in there.
I know Donnie Gaines and went to school with his brothers Larry and Ricky. Donnie is a fine outdoorsmen and can catch fish on Guist Creek when all others fail. He is a great rabbit hunter too with some fine dogs.
