I have been having the same problem while downrigging.. I was thinking about going back to pulling my boards but now i don't know..
well heres the report for this weekend We fished the mouths of bever and otter stright form friday morning till sunday morning(stopping to eat a couple of times and 2-3 hr naps). We were trolling live shiners on planer boards and floats on flat lines. Snap weights weighed 1 oz on outriggers 4-5oz on flat lines. Marked multiple large pods of bait and fish. We had a total of 5 hits 1 fish cought hardley 16in long. My belief is that because of the full moon this weekend that the fish had been feeding all week at night and were relatively inactive to our trolling. This could just be where we were fishing mabye we were doing something wrong but that is what i think the problem was. If any of you were out fishing on cland for anything and did good or bad id like to know and if you did bad weather or not you thought it was the moon or what im at a loss any help or comments would be greatly appreshiated.
Thanks again,
Rob
Went out this morning around the dam... Put in around 5:30 and was loading back up about 6:15 had my limit.. one 28 and one 33 i hated to leave with such good luck so i took them home and cleaned em then headed back... Had one pullout and caught one about 16 incher.. would post some pics but cannot figure out how

I wasn't using live bait.. i was trolling with bucktail jigs and stump jumpers about 30ft on the bottom line and 20 ft on my top line.. probably going about 1mi per hr

You were just fishin for fun the second time out right? Daily limit, means daily limit.Went out this morning around the dam... went home cleaned the fish i caught picked up a buddy and went back.. 2 per person right ...
I fished Friday Night, both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Had fish jump around my boat and my lines. Not one fish. I used bucktail jigs and small umbrella rigs.
The best action I saw was along the cliff coming out of State Dock heading towards low gap. Almost in front of the cave to the bend. Probably 50-75 feet off the bank right when the sun was coming up over the tree tops. Lasted 15 minutes and it was over.
I assume the heat has everything scattered. Should see the blow up starting soon.
I was probably trolling too fast. Saw more action Sunday morning than anything. I think this week will be good. Hope to go this weekend.
