Fished Inter-Lake in Lynnville today in jon boat - caught 6-7 ten inch bass on Pworms . Oh well . Nice pit anyway - will diffently be back . Stopped at Bluegrass on the way back to Eville and banked fished till a guy and his 2 kids showed up and started fish the ramp with snoppy rods and the kids were throwing rocks in the water , grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr , plus this heat ***** so we didnt want to stay long . Caught one 12" bass on the Pworm on the drop - noticed a ball of shad just under the surface about 20-30 feet out roaming around . Cast the old worm out and ran it under the school Bam! 12" bass . Caught 1 more like that . A good pattern for sure . If you motor around the lake looking for schools of shad and dropped a lure under them I bet you could clean up . The shad seemed to be moving around slowly - probably feeding on alge at the top of the lake . Ive caught some nice bass down at Barkley running a Rattle Trap thru & under such pods of shad . Anyway , like I said it gets so dang hot by noon that Im sticking to fishing in the early morning & evening or maybe even night fishing . Anybody else doing any good ?

What did you think of the Inter-Lake area ,is the state working it ??
Ramps,,roads ,etc,,,,....???/![]()
Thanks for that report
Last summer ends I found that pattern but I found that under those schools of shad in the bays there was often a small brush pile under them. In the one bigger bay at Bluegrass. The one with the old road going though the bay. I found lots of small trees under the schools of shad.
I was catching some crappie around each of those submerged trees. If you look at the shoreline you can see what type of brush grows along the banks. I suspect that the same type of brush was flooded and that's what I am fishing. I have found these type of bush all over the pits at Bluegrass and that's where I catch my crappie and bass.
If you can find some of that brush mixed in with the submergent vegetation in about 6 to 7 ft of water near a drop off you can load up on crappies. I caught some really nice 12" long crappie on such a spot last fall.
As for those kids? I would have told their day to handle it. Kids don't know any better but a parent needs to teach their kids manners when at a public fishing area.
Actually the area near the concrete ramp can be very productive especially as the sun is setting. There are lots of small minnows and sunfish that cruse the area near the launch ramp and some really nice 1 lb and 2 lb bass can be caught there using minnows under a slip float. One time I caught at least 15 small bass in that spot and had some fun.
And the little bluegills can be caught using a fly road and # 22 sized fly. These small sunfish can be used to catch crappie or catfish in these lakes.
Just watch out for the algae that grows on the concrete ramps surface as it's very slippery. I tried to clean some of the algae off with a stiff shop broom but it grows right back again.
I wish that IDNR would put some type of algae killer on the ramps ever week or so. That would prevent a lot of people from getting hurt while launching their boats. I don't know how many times I have watched people launching their boats and falling due to the slippery conditions. One older guy cut his hand on his boat trailer as he fell down on the ramp.
Also I'll bet that there is a hole at the end of the ramp now. With all the boats using their gas motors to power up on to the trailer the prop wash is moving the dirt and gravel away from the end of the concrete and creating a huge hole.
I broke my boat trailers axle last year and didn't know it was broken until I got out on Boonville New Harmony road. I at first thought that my axle has rusted in half but now that I think about it though hindsight I remember now that there was a hole at the end of the ramp that day. I just now put two and two together and figured out how my axle broke. I hurt my back pretty badly that day trying to life my boat off the trailer in order to put a webbing to hold the axle in place so that I could get back home.
So be careful if you back down the ramp too far. I saw the IDNR maintenance guys fixing that hole last year. They dumped some gravel onto the launch ramp and then used a trailer with a shovel or plow attached to the rear of the trailer. They just lower the snow plow type shovel and back the trailer down the ramp and push the gravel into the hole. Works good too. But it doesn't take very long to dig that hole back out if you are trying to push a big ranger back onto the boat trailer using a 250 HP motor.
This can be prevented by simply driving your boat up onto the trailer all in one motion. I do this with my boat and it's easy to learn how to do. And there is no current to contend with so maintaining a straight line onto the trailer is much easier. I can put my boat up on the trailer most times without having to use a lot of power.
I also installed some of those "E-Z Slide" boat trailer pads onto the 2x4's on my boat trailer. They make the boat come off the trailer so much easier now. So I can back down the ramp and stop quickly and have the boat slide off the trailer and into the water easier now. I have a 75 ft long rope attacked between the boat and the trailer so that I can launch my boat by myself with ease.
I got the E-Z Slides from Bass Pro Shops online.

it can also be prevented by folks just using their trolling motors to put the boat on the trailor. just as easy.
I fished Inter-Lake last year and didn't do too bad. I caught a couple pretty nice sized bass. haven't been back but I guess I should. Caught the largest one off an old dark red Bass Assassin.
Been fishin the pits east of Elberfeld as of late.
Is the inter lake the giant pit near lynnville that is a pain to get to because the dirt roads have giant holes all thru them.. maybe your talking about something else but my brother broke his trailor trying to get to that one and i havnt tried to take my lowe there yet.

no, Inter Lake is due east on 68 about 2 - 4 miles if I'm not mistaken on the north side of the road. It has a nice gravel road.
does it have a ramp? or nice ramp? gravel/pavement??
