what is the best boat polish???

just wondering what kind of polish you guys use to buff, polish & wax your boats.

my boat is showing some oxidation. I've been fighting it for years keeps coming back.
I had it professionally wet sanded and buffed once cost me $200.00 just for the top cap.
oxidation was back within a year.

I've always kept a cover on it. I can buff it out myself ,wax it & then cover it up and within a week it starts showing back up. whats the deal?????

A friend went to the louisville boat show and brought me back a business card from
AMERICAN BOAT& YACHT located in Jeffersonville, IN

I was also wondering if anyone has had any dealings with them. What quality of work do they do?

My friend said that they had an old boat set up there and asked if they had re-gel coated it and they told him no that they had used 4 different kinds of wax on it. my friend said that it looked brand new.

i own a auto detail shop and buy some stuff called 303 UV protectant....not real sure where we get it from but its the best stuff ive ever used...i had a 95 model boat that looked like it just rolled off the show room floor....your typical car waxes dont seem to bond as well with the gel coat...from what ive heard the bass boat saver from bass pro is some pretty good stuff as well....just dont know how well it will do with removing the oxidation...its a problem youll just have to fight and keep a good coat of whatever you decide to use on her

I just found some stuff called Luster. A good friend of mine uses it on his custom hot rods. I used it on my boat and wow. I am impressed. It cleans and waxes even windows get clean with it. Spray on wait a minute and wipe it off. If you need some let me know and I will give you his number as he is a distrubuter.

I gotta say, BassBoatSaver is the best thing on the market for protecting your boat, car, truck, motorcycle and more. Not to mention it smells great.

Rejex............thats all the saltwater guys use on their boats. I'd say that if it can stand up to that environment, we shouldn't have much worries

They make finishes that are easily sprayed to re-coat. Sand the boat with a 300 grit sandpaper, wipe clean and spray. I did this to my old 83 Astroglass and it looked like new. Boat was very dull and oxidized so bad that you could scratch the finish with your fingernail. If you want to do this for a winter project, just let me know. I have the spray gun and space to do it. Boat will look as good as new. Finish cost I'm not exactly sure of. I got mine through sherwin williams automotive store. I can call and get a price for you if you want?

3M Marine Fiberglass Restorer and Wax. I think I even bought it at Wal Mart. Says it's to be used on heavily oxidized surfaces. I used it on my 88 Stratos with a buffer. (The Stratos always sat outside but was covered) Not a high speed buffer either. Just what I owned. Anyway it works great. The top surface gel coat had turned a milky color. Does the stuff last. Maybe a few months at best but it was just milky colored on top surfaces so was an EZ job. BTW, while waxing it in the garage, a contractor we had mentioned something about a friend looking for a boat. I had the boat 11 years, pd 9K when I bought it and sold it for 4500. Also had a white 175hp Johnson that had a faded yellowing lower unit from water line down. I used Install Hull Cleaner and it looked like new.

Yesterday I put the 1997 wave runner up for the season and used the 3M liquid stuff again on the buffer to clean up the top surfaces that had become faded. Same great results. Then I used to Instant Hull Cleaner on the jet exhaust area. It again looks new. And my neighbor came over to tell me "Hey, you can get that hull cleaner stuff at the Dollar Store at a fraction of the cost". It's called Good Works or something like that. Okay next year. Geesh!!!!
