I was having similar trouble fishing crank baits on spinning rods some time ago. What solved it for me was I switched the treble hooks out to the "excaliber" style hooks. These hooks are needle-sharp round point hooks that kind of curl sideways. When you stick a fish with these hooks they tend to "knarl in" on the fish and rarely let go. The only downside to these hooks is sometimes it is a chore unhooking them.
