Well, I made it to work and it's worse than I thought. Drove past 4 working accidents (police on-site) in 4 miles and the roads are slushy but drivable. I noticed the problem.....stupid drivers! I had several cars flying down the road past me.....accidents waiting to happen.
Stay tuned it's still coming and they say this next round is gonna be a significant ice event.
Well 3 inches on the nose here at work. It was mostly sleet/wintry mix from 6am on which killed my prediction. That part of the storm got here too early. Roads were a mess, but improved the further west I got. Got passed by a semi on 150 this morning. I was doing 40.
I'm predicting a big mess, and I feel I won't be to far off...Chuck
Your right about that. My Dogwood is already touching the ground and there are trees losing limbs as we speak in the front yard, nothing big but with the amount of ice thats accumulating it won't be long.
Tomorrow will be a headache fo' sho'!!!
Just watched Paducah on the Weather Channel Jim Cantore is doing his spots from there. Man you guys got HAMMERED!
Boys it looks like a war zone, Hurricane Ike all over again. We have power for now at home. I'm at work and the power has went off three times since I've been here but has came back on each time. There is a solid inch or more of ice on everything here. Global warming, ha ha ha, what a bunch of idiot's. This winter has been brutal, and they are talking single digits here again for Friday night. Boy's if I could retire I would move somewhere much warmer than here and visit here during the summer, lol. They can have this crap!
Understatement of the year! I'm listening to trees cracking all over the place. Got two downed trees blocking my street, so I'm not going anywhere soon. Good thing the power was only out for 4 minutes, 'cause I don't have a whole lot of firewood put up. But I'll have plenty once things dry out! And just as I am typing this I hear someone out there with a chainsaw. I certainly appreciate the community spirit, but me, I'm staying inside for now. There are large tree limbs coming down literally every minute or two, so it's just not safe out there. Stay inside and stay safe everybody!
Well now my power is out. Local news isn't even speculating when power will possible come back up for people ans single digits on the way. I'm at work and it goes off and comes back on, then dims then comes back, bad bad bad.
I'm crossing my fingers as we still have power here in Greenville,Indiana. It flickered off and on a few times over night but we're still up.
Large cedar tree by our upstairs bedroom window was snaping limbs off all night long. Everty shotgun blast would wake me up.
We have firewood in the garage and plenty of canned goods and powered milk if things get worse. We can cook pinto beans on the basement wood stove.
Hang in there people, it will get better soon.
Hey Tyme the power went off at my house about 6:30 this morning. I saw the downed line as I was driving out of the subdivision. I live in Saddlebrook just West of Greenville.
Lexington was easy to drive around before the colder temps and snow hit. It's terrible now but it's pretty. Been clearing back roads as I drive around to get through. Most limbs are the size of my leg but very few people will get out to move them so I figured I would just to help out. Of course if I see ANY downed lines I won't get near the stuff.
