Shimano Sedona

i have used one before and i liked it ok.... but before u make a purchase go to di cks or sportsmans warehouse and look at the okuma reels.. i love these reels they cast a mile and will take the pressure of high use.... i have some okumas that are prolly 4 or 5 years old and they cast just as good as my new ones... i aint tryin to change your mind or anything becuase a sedona is a good reel but i have owned them both and would pick an okuma....

Ye s i still have one I bought it at Dicks Sporting goods, I believe the reel was made for Dicks alone. It is a large framed reel. I bought it as a combo, I did not like the rod so I replaced the rod but i like the reel.

I have been fishing Okuma spinning reels for about ten years and they are great. I bought a Okuma bait casting reel and had trouble with the side plate opening while casting. I was at the Indy boat show last year they had a rep there I xplained the proble he gave me the number for there warranty deptment I called them they agreed that they were having some problem asked me to send them the reel and they replaced it with a reconditioned reel which was just like new. Great to work with.

I've had 2 for 5-6 years. NO FAIL BAIL spring and the smoothness made a believer out of me. No need for warranty here. They're bullet proof.

I would go with the Shimano Stradic best reel on the market for the price.

I got a Sedona last year, use it about ten times, so for so good. Most of the time it was used flippin live nightcrawlers for bluegill, but also did well on some small cranks. I guess its sad to say this is my most expensive spinning reel, and my best. I am looking to add another spinning reel to my collection this year . I am open to ideas, but like to spend less then $75. I sure the Stradic is nice, sould be its aleast 100 bucks more.

dont have any experience with the sedona but shimano makes a good reel. i like the symetre's myself. more expensive, but you get alot of the features of the higher priced models at a cheaper price. you're also getting a metal frame, which is going to be more durable. in my opinion, when it comes to spinning reels casting isnt usually the problem, it's the darn thing locking up and not reeling anymore. the metal frame keeps your internal gears aligned better. just my opinion.

I have had a sedona 500 for years and love it for trout fishing with 2lb test. Last year I bought a Sedona 2500 with the rear drag. Paired with 10lb braid, I've caught a lot of hybrids down by the river. The Sedona has performed great. I am a big fan of Shimano reels. You should also consider the Spirex - for about 50 bucks you get a the quick trigger cast, which is a wonderful feature.

I'd say if a guide uses them they're probably pretty decent, kind of like a Timex in that they're able to take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

i like how this man thinks.... okuma reels are awesome... if they can stand up to me and still work thats good... i take care of my stuff i really do but i have that knack of touching somthing and it go all to pieces... i have used an okuma on a catfish rod before and it was caked in chicken liver and river sand by the end of the trip and it still works i got it on a mh stcroix.... i have dunked a couple of them in the river wade fishing and just put em in the truck and go home... i have never had them cleaned or used any lube on them or anything and they still preform as good as new..... that aint no BS either... i can prove it... i have worn the paint off one of them its just bone lookin in places...

The new Stradics are the best. I have a 3000 and a 2500MgFB, the magnesium version.........by far the best spinning reels ever made for the money. They are pricey, but worth every penny. Shimano makes great equipment....period.
