    That Was a Bad Guy!

The first day of our vacation, early in the morning we stopped at a gas station in Knoxville, TN. When I've gotten up extremely early and tanked up on coffee to get my eyes open, there is always a negative result. Coffee seems to shrink my bladder to the size of a bb while the backup "water" is like Niagara Falls. Such was the case that morning, so I jumped out of the vehicle looking for a "Restroom" sign. I had already checked my surroundings to make sure I was in a safe area and did not see another soul outside the station.

I started down the walk past a phone booth. I saw no one and didn't hear a sound, but suddenly a nasty guy who looked homeless and wearing a backpack dove out from behind the phone booth and right into my face. Sweetie Pie was standing nearby watching me as he smoked a cigarette. When the guy jumped into my face, I lit up with adrenaline from head to toe and went into a self-defense mode. Sweetie Pie ran toward me, caught me in mid-air, and messed up my best Ninjay-Judey beatdown. By then he is so mad he put me down, grabbed the guy, and slammed his head into a brick wall, and said, "I should have let her do what she started but you're not worth her spending her vacation in jail." For the next hour I was so lit up with adrenaline that I wanted to rip the seats out of the vehicle. I told Sweetie Pie, "Please don't talk to me until I cool down because I've never been as loaded with adrenaline in my life as I am right now." He made sure we stopped at the next rest area and told me to walk for a while because I had scared him in Knoxville. I called him a name for a female cat and asked him what HE had to be afraid of. He removed his cap, bowed like a very polished gentleman, and said, "Mam, I plead the 5th Amendment on that one." For the next 15 minutes I walked and laughed at his comment.......laughter is still the best medicine.

    I'm glad you are ok.

It is sad we can't feel save going to the rest room or walking to the parking lot at night. I have a twelve year old granddaughter and I hate it when we are at a shopping center or anywhere there are big crowds and she is with me and goes to the restroom by herself.

Without my sounding complete ignorant, what is your definition of a "Bible Thumper?" I'm not offended by your remark but am having a problem understanding how you apply that terminology to me.

Perhaps I can best explain my reason for asking by telling you that in 1243, my great-x26-grandfather, William Tyndhalle married his wife Alma, of Lancashire County, England. Together they learned the Holy Scriptures and taught them to their two sons, Richard and Lee, each evening by candlelight. The tradition continued with the boys and and forward to the current generation. Nothing changed when they came to America except they were no longer under The Church of England, and electric lights replaced lamps in the early 1940's in our family. A note of interest, the names William, Richard, and Lee have been used in every family that had males, for every generation since 1243. My grandfather's name was William Richard Lee Tyndhalle, my youngest brother's name was Richard, and his son's name is Richard. Some were missionaries, some were ministers, and my eldest brother was a minister who held a Doctorate of Divinity degree and was a brilliant teacher of the Bible. I'm not a "Bible Thumper" this is WHO I am, THIS IS MY FAMILY'S HERITAGE for 766 years.

Bug, no offense was intended. Your discription of who you are, is a pretty good discription of what I call a Bible Thumper or a little more precisely, someone who frequently quotes the Bible.

I didn't take offense and appreciate your explanation. I'm just glad it wasn't meant to be derogatory like something Ted Turner said.

I don't know what Ted Turner said, but then again, I don't want to know anything that Ted Turner says. I haven't listened to anything from him since he married Jane Fonda and I feel that anyone that would have anything to do with that witch (pardon my mis-spelling) is not worth anything either.

I'm sorry, Grumpy, my ignorance must be glowing. I didn't know you were giving me a compliment.

Ted Turner, the loudmouth, said that "Christianity is a religion for losers."
On another occasion, when he was taken to task over that remark, he formed a $200 million charitable partnership with Lutherans and Methodists. He made a speech and in it he said, "I find it really hard to believe I'm going to Hell."

I guess he just realized he was the big loser and his money couldn't buy him the 'one-way' trip that we Christians are looking forward to. Heaven.

That is ALL of our heritage...........MOST EVERYONE whose family has been here for a few hundred years is a Christian, because our country was FOUNDED by CHRISTIANS.......

BTW Bassin............FANTASTIC.............simply FANTISTIC that you have such a great historical record of your family.

My Family Name........White can be traced to Scotland, and I have Irish/Scot and American Indian on my Dad's side, and German on my mom's side........

Officially, I could "claim" to be Indian, but NEVER have, NEVER will........My Great Grandmother on my dad's side was full blooded Apache. I wish I would have known her better........
