I just started fishing a spinnerbait at night and something happened I can,t figure out I missed 25 fish last night because it felt like the fish hit the blade with there mouth closed and I,m not talking ticking it I mean slamming it drove me crazy I talked to some ol, time spinnerbaiters from tenn. and they told me to go up or down a shade in skirt color and they should connect any other ideas sorry for the rant it,s just weird.

I fish around a lot of standing timber a trailer hook is a good idea but with all the wood around where I fish it could be a problem.
You can make the training hook weedless.

Sometimes you gotta get snagged more to catch a few more.
Try a black SB also, might help them see it better at night
I have heard black is the best at night I use black/red,black/orange with the moon coming up I throw lighter colors with a silver sloan blade#5 cloudy or dark night a gold blade.
it's redeyes. i was having the same problem so i built a special spinnerbait with 2 small hooks and caught several just to see what it was.
I always used to throw a 3/8oz, single colorado(number 5 strike king blade, the diamond pattern), with a no. 11 white uncle josh pork frog(fat side up and chunk has to be really white). Skirt color: black/red or brown/orange. Used the bass pro shops lazer-eye. Sometimes you can feel them 'smacking' the back of the spinnerbait and just won't hook up, but keep throwing it and slow down even more. Might try switching to a white skirt on moonlit nites.
Sounds like the spinnerbait you are using may have too long a wire. Sometimes when they hit real aggressive versus just closing their mouth you will get alot of glance hits and not hookups. Make sure you have a good SHARP hook and make sure the upper arm and the blade isn't interfering with the exposure of your hook.
The amount of times you mentioned is way over the top on something like this happening.
I'd change spinnerbaits and try again.
Other poster on the redeye theory may have it figured out though......
What are talking about red eyes, ky spotted bass. What lake are you fishing??
Has anyone been successful with the short arm spinnerbaits??
I am going to switch spinnerbaits and use a shorter wire they were on black last night no blade hits all hookups but I did use a 1/2 inch shorter wire.Sounds like the spinnerbait you are using may have too long a wire. Short arm...put some jig rattles on it...you might be surprised.
