I jus got back from fishin at herrington and my dad and i caught a few bluegill but nothin special and some idiot came ripping through the tiny little cove we were fishing in and screwed up all the fishing which really made me mad but to top it off the cut us off and started fishing right in front of us, just because he was fishing some small local fishing tournament, i was pretty upset so we fished a little bit more but got nothing because all the fish were spooked because like i said this was a VERY small snakey cove we were in so we just decided to leave and call it a night. And as we were leaving i was going out with my trolling motor on high gear and as you all know Herrington's water is very mirky and stained a brown color so i failed to see a submerged tree and i hit it and broke a small connector on my trolling motor mount nothing serious but still upsetting.
By the way if you have had an idiot do something like the one tonight just because he was in a small tournament post a reply and tell us about it.
Thanks

ive had it happen a few times on different lakes. but im sure that not everytime it was some idiot fishing a tourney but possibly some idiot fishing for fun. i do both and im just saying that ive never been able to tell the difference between a tourney boat or a boat that is just fishing and i dont ask because the tourney fishing idiots and the fun fishing idiots are the same type of idiot.imo

Can't we all just get along! lol! You should have then fired up your engine and blasted in front of him!(two wrongs don't make a right, I know, lol). If they were within casting range, I would put on the heaviest lure I had in my bag and proceeded to let it rain on them!

most tournament fishermen i know have more respect than that plus the tourny rule that your only allowed to fish so close to a boat that is anchored or has the trolling motor down.
There were at least 2 tournaments that night. My partner and I went out of Coffey's Cove, and I believe there was an open tournament out of Pandora as well. Please, don't point your finger at tournament anglers. There are just as many idiots out there that aren't fishing in tournaments, and most of it can be contributed to lack of experience.
Also, like was mentioned earlier in this thread.....some of the most respectful fishermen I know fish in tournaments. We (most of us TOURNAMENT ANGLERS) know when to make decisions that show courtesy to others, as well as safety. I must say that there are some individuals that don't pratice safety and courtesy in tournaments, but did you flag the guy down and ask him if he was fishing in one? Besides, I've been cut off plenty of times by little jon boats with men, women and children alike in them and I have never said a word.....just went about my business or moved to another spot.
I'm not knocking you, but don't stereotype one side of the fishing spectrum without looking for faults in the other. Some folks find it downright insulting. There are plenty of people who make bad mistakes, tournament and non-tournament anglers alike.
