OBAMA WINS NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

OSLO (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for giving the world "hope for a better future" and striving for nuclear disarmament.

The decision to award one of the world's top accolades to a president less than nine months into his first term, who has yet to score a major foreign policy success, came as a major surprise.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee praised Obama for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

The first African-American to hold his country's highest office, Obama has called for disarmament and worked to restart the stalled Middle East peace process since taking office in January.

"Very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said in a citation.

Wow! That just cheapens that award.....well then again Jimmy Carter won it so the standard was set years ago.

You are right Don, and if I remember correctly Carter got it for the same reasons that Obama must have--publicly denouncing America and democracy, and siding with the Palistinians against Isreal.

Could it be Obama has been waiting to send troops to Afghanistan because he was aware he was in the final running for this award? Could it be that he put his ego ahead of the troops? Could it be that this was given just to influence his decision? Either way it's proof again that butt kissing and not hard work is what the world wants. What a joke! By the way, Nobel does not equal Noble............

Just for clarification before someone jumps on it, Carter was awarded the Peace Prize in 2002, long after he left the Presidency. However, my assessment of the reasons it was given to him are still valid in my opinion.

It would not surpise me if his next great honor would be the Pulitzer prize. He will either write a book AGAIN or re-publish one of his old ones.

What Pray tell has this man accomplished. Push aside the fact for just a moment that the mere sight of him makes me physically ill, I really want somebody, Anybody to honestly tell me what this purple lipped joker has actually accomplished and I'm waiting patiently???????????????????????????????????

AS the Taliban overran an FOB in Afghanistan, Obama was preparing his speach to secure the Olympics. Now we find out he won the Nobel Peace Prize.........

I wonder if the troops desperately needed to WIN that WAR are tied up with his political stuff.

THE MAN has an ego bigger than any past sitting president.............

He did NOTHING to warrent being nominated, let alone winning the thing.....it CHEAPENS the award.

Today was a SAD day for our country, if you ask me.

UH Yea I read it that's why I'm trying to point out he did nothing, Zip, Nada that every other American President has tried to do, that's my point. Bush Sr and Jr both, Reagan, Yada Yada all did this very thing during their Presidency WHY didn't they win the NPP???

Thus my confusion Mr Grumpy????????????????????
