The water that is shallower than what the thermocline was can't turnover since, well, no thermocline. The oxygen levels will stay pretty consistent there and the fish that are there will keep on eating as normal. As far as spring turnover, well there is no such thing. The turnover is related to thermocline which sets up in the early summer and dissipates in the fall.
