I'm not surprised by this at all. There are a couple on this site that I wouldn't put this past.

Freedom of speach only if no one is listening![]()
Man someone needs some cheese with that whine! Maybe they should have researched more cause' I'm sure alot more people tossed mud their way. Puh---leeze!
Well........Slander is Slander......hiding behind an Anonymous Web account to say whatever you want is not FREEDOM of speech.....
If I say something that hurts someone's business, just to drive business somewhere ELSE, that is slanderous, and actionable.
While I HATE lawsuits, some people, especially on the web are JACKASSES.

I find it very hard to believe that this crimianl lawyer who defends pond scum like her client would get her itty bitty feelings hurt because a few comments were made about her. Those laawyers have no conscience or feelings. I worked closely with them for many many years. I would expect she would hear what people think of her all the time for defending a murdering loser who kills his wife. I hate Domestic Violence. Any lawyer that defends these losers is scum in my books. Glad to see the public voicing their distaste of this lawyer. Now if she doesnt like to hear the truth about herself she shouldnt be a lawyer or be a lawyer who defends the rights of victims not destroys them. Just my 2 cents.
I used to spend a lot of time over on Kentucky.com for the UK basketball talk. I still go there ocassionaly. I've got to tell you, the worst stuff we see on here is child's play compared to the UK fanatics vs. UL/UNC/KU/Duke fanatics. One of the main reasons I quit going there was the total lack of respect shown to anyone. This from the Herald-Leader out of Lexington. Someone is getting sued for anonymous comments:

However, in total fairness, there were a few with whom I lost my cool with too...LOL... and if anything crossed a line, you could report it to the moderators, and it was always removed.

That is why there are rules on Fishin.com and why everyone needs to report infractions (SEND AN ALERT) to the Moderators when you see something over the line. Long before I became a Moderator, Peter, Dave,, APB, Jim, et al, constantly stressed the need to FOLLOW THE RULES, especially the one about leaving your personal information on a post when you write something critical of another person or a business, whether on the Board or not. Many of the posts lately deriding polticians and others come awfully close to going over the line.
Becareful what you write and REMEMBER GRUMPY'S RULE!!

I didn't read the comments she's suing over, but I don't see this lawsuit going anywhere. She has to prove 1) that the comments were false, 2) that the person posting them KNEW they were false, and 3) that she actually suffered a loss as a result. #1 and #2 may be easy (again, I don't know what was posted), but #3 is going to be tough. She is going to have to prove that she lost business as a direct result of those posts, which is going to be difficult at best. And I can tell you right now she's not going to get diddly for "pain and suffering" over something someone posted on the web. That's just ridiculous.

My sister is a lawyer, graduated from UK's law school. I'm telling you, she will try to sue over anything. She threatened to sue me when my Father was dying. He had a do not resusicitate (spelling??) advanced directive, and she was living in a far western state. She threatened to sue me if I did not keep my Dad alive to give her time to get home to say goodbye. Oh did I mention, she was taking over a week to get home, when you can drive it in less than 24 hours? Said she could not get a flight... sheesh...
Makes me questions lawyers even more!!! And, I have to wonder about the law school, although there was no indication that the lawyer in the original post graduated from UK!!
I am sure there are some good lawyers, and I may have met one, once.... LOL Just joking, I know there are some that are good.
