No mention of your first "Creek Chub" of the year on the fly???![]()
i think you still owe me a buck for the first bass of the year on the fly michael....i'll have to collect once the water temps get right and we're ready for another trip
Can I get in on this bet? I caught my first one at 7:15am January 1 of 2009, 5-1 ounce and another that went 4-15 a few minutes later.
Hey guys...I'm the worst FnF fisherman in the room but I might have the first BASS of the 09-10 winter fishin season....caught 5 or 6 a week and a half ago in stoner creek...
all were largemouth and nutin to compare to elnuts 5 pounder but I was tickled.
I think Redneckshadrap might have the first of this winter for he was catching them out of Elkhorn on the fly about 3 weeks ago if I recall his post. I have yet to make a cast with the fly this winter and actually my rods are still locked away in the Gold Lined Safe with 24 hour security guards on watch. I will have to lay them off soon and break out the rods to clean the reels and eyes, put fresh 8lb Fireline on them and get them ready for the 12 pounder that I plan on landing out of Dale in December.
Well shux
Good deal Michael...We need to plan a float on the main stem and do that exact thing. I've caught them just letting the current do all the work....I've been doing my fair share of fly throwing the past 2 wks...Those dang gills are wearing me out where I'm at though,,,LOL!! I set the hook and bout did a gainer on Sunday into the creek...
I would have paid good money to see you do a Triple Lindy Double Lutz Half Gainer into Elkhorn on the hookset. Maybe I can help that happen at Stoner next Friday.Good deal Michael...We need to plan a float on the main stem and do that exact thing. Just say the word and I'm there. I was only fishing a 2' leader on Sunday and just using a regular length light spinning rod. Once we found them, they bit aggressively.Good deal Michael...We need to plan a float on the main stem and do that exact thing. Hey guys/girls, although i am a usually a warmer weather fisherman, this will be my second winter living on stoner creek with the water outside my back door and i am gonna have to break down and give the float and fly a try. I have never used this technique so if any of you that are using it on the creek could give me an idea on a simple set up of lures to buy i would appreciate it. I am planning on trying to use a 7 foot spinning setup i already have if that will work. I live on the ike's ramp section of the creek so i will have a variety of fishng depths, up to about 12ft or so with plenty of rock ledges, rock banks, as well as timber. I appreciate your help!!
Bourbonbales; which stretch of creek do you prefer, the back yard, or Fryman's?Hey guys/girls, although i am a usually a warmer weather fisherman, this will be my second winter living on stoner creek with the water outside my back door and i am gonna have to break down and give the float and fly a try.
