A criminal case doesn't help Strader recoupe losses.......if they in fact EXIST.

It looks like the KDFWR violated lots of laws, deliberately shut him out and BOASTED about trying to put him out of business......those are all CIVIL issues as well as criminal...

I understand what you're saying, but is it really criminal to boast about trying to put someone out of business? Sounds like competition to me.

As to the laws they violated, that's where they should be charged criminally.

Put it this way, what if I decided to start my own radio show at the same time as his and I lent my support to a different expo? Would he sue me? Isn't it a free market?

There's no doubt in my mind that the KDFWR probably has dirty hands, but the things they allegedly did that were dirty don't seem to have a lot to do with Strader.

As for having competition for his show and expo, I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with that (although they likely did it for the wrong reasons).

I have thought for some time Jim was on track with his opinions about Telecheck. I personally feel the same way about it and that's what started this Feud. I do not know all the details only from one side and would like to hear the Departments rebutle. I do not doubt for a bird dog second though that they were walking around boasting of shutting him down. Jim is not a fan of the new Commisioner at all and has been vocal about it, that helped push this little battle right along to.

I for one will miss the Expo. Yes it's just a Flea market and is basically the same each and every year however it's something to do on a cold winter's day that involves huntin and fishin. I also enjoy the big buck contest and like looking and the Big Heads from this years past season.

You can get some pretty good deals down there on some stuff to if you look around real hard, yea I'll miss the show. I bought a vegetable peeler down there last year that is the best dang thing you have ever seen. I can peel a large potato with that thing in mere seconds.

There are so many factual errors in the complaint, I doubt it will ever see a judge.

Been attending shows as an exhibitor since late 80's.Back when Louisville show at Fairgrounds was run by William H. King and Jim was his point man. Some oldtimers will remember this.Did Jim's show for a couple years . Been doing 4-6 shows a year for 20 + years. so I think I have a feel for what happens at shows.

Anyone who attended shows back in the 90's can remember the "'HUGH" crowds walking aisles everyday.Couldn't walk down aisles for people.Everyone had both hands full of literature in bags.Plenty of manufacturer reps showing new products and answering questions.Lots of tackle, fishing and hunting destinations.Little or no junk booths(windows, doors, time shares, etc).

Back then ,only 4 shows within easy driving distance-Louisville at Fairgrounds:Renfro Show at Indy,Hart Productions at Cincy;and Nashville show.In last 8-10 years every town seems to have a show or shows. The explosion of shows has "watered down the gravy". Manufacturer reps, exhibitors and attendees got overwhelmed by # of shows,We all have a budget for show participation, some many shows/which to attend.Factor in the amount of information available on websites/internet useage.

A family of 4 can easily spend $100 at a show.Parking, tickets to get in,food for kids ,few adult beverages; it adds up quick. 10 X 10 booth space, electric, motel room ,eats and transportation for a 9-10 day show will usually cost me $1800-$2000.Shows aren't cheap for attendees or exhibitors!!

Hugh number of shows available divided up the exhibitors, show promoters had to fill empty space with anything, resulting in poorer quality shows.High costs to attend ,hugh number of shows ,overall decline in quality of all shows, easy access to tremendous amounts of info on internet caused attendance to start declining in early 90's.Add the tough economic times in the last 2 years-show attendance plummeted. Every show has taken hard economic hits,Jim is no exception!!Shows are dropping countrywide.

Jim's demise was caused by the factors I listed above.Plenty of other businesses are biting the dust. Haven't see a poster say they attended a show just to buy a license. Why pay parking and entrance fee just to buy licence? Never seen a large crowd around KDFWR booth at any show.

Some will not agree with me,some will, but it is what it is.I know all the principals in the law suit, don't have an ax to grind with either . Just call it like it is!!!!

Like Trophy Fish says...it is what it is. Heck the Louisville Boat Show is cut back to what now...four or five days instead of nine? I doubt very seriously the Louisville Boat Show will ever again see the nine day runs that it experienced in the past, good economy or not. People can shop online for anything and everything now. Good or bad it is what it is, welcome to the future!

Add a BASS Pro or Gander Mountain in every other town having "special sales" whenever there is an outdoor show in the area and you have just about summed it up. I worked the big shows for 8 years doing seminars on the tank, New York, Philly, Worchester, Timonium, Raliegh, Indy etc....quit doing that two years ago...saw the crowds going down hill every year and vendors too....times have changed.

I hear on the boat show. Seems like every year its the same old stuff. I'd love to see an Alumaweld, or Customweld, at the show. A Trophy Walkaround. Some of that stuff that nobody around heere has, and the brochure just don't show you all you want to know and see. Last couple shows I've attended just said to me the industry is just not trying. Like most boats seem to be cookie cutter copies with a couple tweaks from somebody elses lines. And off course the prices have gotten crazy. I blame the industry for painting themselves into that bow. Since when should a 20 Foot bass boat with a 150 cost more than the 1/2 pickup that tows it?

I hate to see anybody in any industry hit hard times. I wish all the sales folks and workers the best. But really do think the boating industry has just priced itself out of line, and its sales are suffering for it, and without the sales, the industry has no $$$$ to really develop new product lines.

I would agree with you, if it were private citizens who decided they wanted to compete with Strader and put him out of business. But when it's people acting in their official capacity as government agents, saying they're going to put him out of business because he pointed out potentially criminal behavior at their agency, then that's grounds for a civil suit. If what Stader is alleging is true, then they should have to pay him, PLUS face criminal prosecution.

Re: Things are about go get ugly

Would someone explain to me how KDFWR not having a booth at a show would cause it to bite the dust? They don't do any thing except sell licences, answer a few questions, hand out reg booklets and fill up space that can't be sold to a paying exhibitor! Their booth never seems to have a crowd around it.Sometimes bring in a boat off Ohio River to display(Fill up empty space-no paying exhibitor needed it). If KDFWR brings in that many attendees at a show, why doesn't anyone post about whether KDFWR will be there? Bottom line -Another business bites the bullet due to tough economic times!!!!!!!!!

I agree that them not being at the expo did not cause the down fall of Jim's expo, but I do have a question while we are on the subject. Why is KDFWR going to have a booth set up at the Nashville Boat Show?
