    Web Cam (CR)

I was on line looking at the Web Cam Located at Hatchery Creek, and was wondering what if one is located at the dam or pointed at the dam. If a Web Cam was pointed at the dam, a feller could just go on line and see what the discharge is at that time. I think the picture is updated every 30 sec. I would not think the cost would be all that bad. Just a thought.

That would be very nice as I have to drive from Louisville any time I want to fish the river and the water is so unpredictable. The best thing I have figured out to do is take some pictures of the river and write down the cfs so I can tell what the river looks like at what flow levels. I have been there around 20 times and the river is almost never the same as the previous trip. It's a frustrating thing to pull up to the dam and see the water blasting from the gates knowing how difficult the fishing is about to be. A web cam would be great.

I will mention a couple websites that might help you out. The information located here would be best used to indicate trends such as the river rising or falling. It can change drastically in the outflow overnight from Wolf Creek Dam in case of rain in the lake area. The first URL shows the discharge rate at Wolf Creek Dam, lake elevation above the dam and river elevation below. The second URL show the Cumberland River level at Celina Tennessee just over the state line. If you record these numbers over an extended period, it seems to indicate where the water level is going. Keeping in mind that there are no guarantees and that weather and demands for electricity can change the outflow without notice. You might still have trips where the water level have risen too high to fish. Good fishing.

That was the first thing that came to mind, possible terrorist attack and this would be a reason why it could not be. So I take it you have asked the Corp about a web cam already? I would think there could be a compromise.

I got all the sites that tell you discharge rates, ect, but I was just wondering what about a web cam that you could just go on line and see first hand what was going on with the river. I would not care if I seen the dam or not, just a good look at the river from the dam out. I too drive about an hour and a half get to the river only to find out everything I have read or was told was wrong or my figuring was all wrong. But like Ky Trophy Fish said " It wont happen".

Lake has dropped to 681.90 ft ,discharge is going way down.Big fish will start to pull back to deeper pools scattering out .Corp most likely will start shutting flow completely off for periods of time untill lake levels rises.Don't like fishing there in lower water levels. When we get heavy flow again ,we will hit it. Bought your crooked barrel Ruger Red Label,3 shots -3 rabbits!!!
