    Nolin Report 4/12

Well, I finally made it up to Nolin for the first time today. I only had about three hours to burn, so I didn't have much time to explore. I put in @ Moutardier and headed up river. I didn't go to far before I enountered a creek area with some awesome looking timber stand ups. I started off there with water temps 64.9 @ 0930. Flipped beavers along the timber and pulled out my first fish, a keeper around 3lbs. I thought it was a good sign.....not really. I flipped for another hour before I got my next bite....another keeper around 3lbs. Two fish, two keepers....I liked it. Well, wasn't getting any more hits on the beaver, so I switched to a crank. Hooked up with a HOG!!!.....or so I thought, a 20lb GAR!!! LOL! I then headed further up river to a major creek and went back to around 6 foot of water in the back of it, water temps 67.1 @ 1200. Threw cranks, jerks, spinner baits, beavers, brush hogs......nada. Had to leave @ 1300, so I was out of there. Beautiful day though, and really liked the look of the lake. I will definitely be back when I have some more time to explore.

Not bad....not good. Still waiting to have one of those days were the fish are just ON.....ya know. I've had a few days with the hybrids like that, but not the bass yet this year. Hopefully soon.

I haven't been out much this year yet but hitting Nolin tomorrow. Are you able to work cranks at the same speeds you do later in the summer or do you still have to work things a bit slower as we come out of the cold? Thanks for any info you have

Sounds like a good day. I wouldn't mind having a couple days like that soon.

I went there last weekend and took my 14 year old daughter and her friend. They caught about 15 using crankbaits that I put on for them. Then i spent most of the time taking their fish off. The friend lost one at the boat that had to be at least 6 pounds. It jumped out of the water 3 times while I'm saying don't horse it, but third time was the charm and it couldn't of been more than 6 feet away when it came off. So they get bored ( I mean we probably only were out for like an hour and a half) so i took them back to camp. Then I go back by myself thinkin' this is gonna be great. Caught 2 fish 1 was a walleye and the other was small. Did however have 1 big 1 follow my bait right to the boat. I'd rather be lucky than good any day and **** them girls are lucky. By the way never left the sight of mouterdier or however you spell it.
