Garlic Spike-It dip on the tail ends on creature baits and jig trailers. It improves my confidence in the summer months more than anything else. I use chartruce 95% of the time.

Triple that on BANG! I also like the crawfish scent as well the garlic. Tend to put the crawfish spray on my tubes and garlic on worms. The only craws I use are Berkley Powerbait craws and don't need to spray those stinky things!!

    Re: Spray Attractants

great question, I have used spray attractants ever since Fish Formula came out over 20 years ago. I only use one kind now. It is the Yum LPT shad formula. It is a purplish liquid in a pump spray. For many year I swore by the Berkley Power formula but have proven to myself and several friends that nthe LPT is superior.
Sprays work better in cold water than they do warm and are most effective on lures that are slower and stay in the strike zone longer. Jigs and plastic are a natural for the spray becuase they concentrate the scent in a given area, Some sprays are masking(Garlic) other contain feeding pheramones(spelling) both are good at masking Lserine which occurs in human skin oil and is highly offensive to bass.
YUM is a pheromone based scent that uses manufactured live prey scent mimicing to both hide human scent and add attracting scent.
Invest in a bottle and try it the next time you are fishing a C rig or T rig you may be surprised. Fish2win

    Re: Spray Attractants

I actually have 3 kinds in the boat. Bang Crawfish, Kick 'n Bass Garlic, and I still have a bottle of craw scent that was sold at one time by Jimmy Houston. Do any of them work? I seem to do about the same with or without a scent. If I think of it, I'll add it. I normally reserve it for flipping lures.

    Re: Spray Attractants

I have used the spray attractants for longer than I care to remember, and I think they help. and here's something that I do, and I think it works well. I jig fish more than anything. I like using 1/2 oz. jigs with uncle josh pork chunks. I buy the { hot pickle wiener } and pour the liquid out of the uncle josh bottles, and refill them with the juice from the hot wieners. I think the smallmouth hold on to the jig better like this. it could just be in my head, but i've done it for over 30 years. and have a dozzen bottles filled with it right now.

Never tried that method but I'm not surprised it works. I'm a big fan of scents and dyes. If flipping grass I'll soak the dog doo out of my bait to make it slick. Black is my favorite dye and bang is my favorite spray.

smljaw, I use the spike it marker to dye the ends of my trailers. It is also garlic scented. I think it is more of a confidence thing than anything else.
