The day I need a 2 dollar hook for Bass or Catfish is the day I quit. Give me some eagle claw lazer sharps and I will be fine

I know haow important sharp hooks are. I use the magna bass pro hooks, there pretty sharp but I still hit them with a file to get a real good edge on them. But I have seen the Laser Trokar hooks so I checked them out, at $10 bucks for a 5 pack is it worth it? Has anyone tried them yet? I think about the money I can save on them and put it toward buying an extra bait or pack of senko's. Just my opinion, Im interested to see what everyone else thinks.

A friend of mine bought some trokar and had problems with them folding on a hard hook set. I don't think you can beat the "gama-gotch-yous" and they are expensive enough!
Use bps xps hooks or eagle claw lazer sharp without concern but never was one for finesse, always tried to cross their eye's![]()
I've also heard about the Trokar points bending on the hookset or after getting snagged... To me that's just flat-out failure of a product especially considering how important the hook is in anyone's arsenal. Definetely not worth the money or wasted time in a tournament having to straighten or retie due to failure of the most important aspect of a lure. Not a problem in about 10 years with Gamakatsu.
Owner hooks are by far the best hooks on the market, in my opinion.
Second runner up is Gamakatsu hooks. I won't use a different type of hook for bass although I have caught thousands on eagle claw before these two came on the market.
I like them sharp but think about this... If you put one pound of pressure on a basic hook, pointed into your skin, would it go in? Now think about the pressure you apply when you cross his/her eyes.. If it's sharp, it's going in.

Gammy for sure. Trokar at $10 per pack? Really? No way no how are they worth it.
Gammy's here too. I have found nothing better. Trokars do come in cool packs though!!!LOL!! I have heard too many stories about the tips rolling over after a couple of fish. I thought Gammy's were high.
There are a lot of gimmicks in fishing tackle, but one thing is for sure - There's No gimmick to a sharp hook!!! Gamakatsu are my choice by far.
I remember buying the straight shank 5 pack from Walmart back in the early 90's. Back then most people I fished around used tru-turns. The wide gap hooks that I mostly use now where not to be found and people gave me junk for spending that few dollars for those few hooks until they tried them.
I heard things like it's a Japanese product no way would I spend that kind of money on their stuff...lol. Look at us now![]()
Gammies or Owners for me. I've been using the Owner weedless wacky hooks and those things are just plain scary......
Am I the only Mustad user on here? Man, love my Mustads. Gammy runs a close second though.
