    Boating Safety Question With Lightening

If you are on the water and you can not escape lightening and you are in an aluminum boat are you better to get to a shore line and get out or stay on the water in the aluminum boat? It is a question that we had debate over today and could not come to a final answer on. What is your thoughts...now the scenario is the storm has come up on you while you are out on the water.

Best article I've found on it : http://nasdonline.org/document/209/d...rotection.html

In general, heading for the shoreline is the best bet as you put taller things around you that are more likely to become the lightning rod, instead of you. Hit the beach, tie up, and head for a safe flat place to lie down.

The article gives ideas for reducing your vulnerability if caught out in the open water.
