    Ohio River

Next weekend, a buddy and I are going to hit the river for the weekend. What are the best species to target this time of the year, and where would be some good places to try. Any advice, and or tips would be greatly appreciated as we are both lake/creek/stream fisherman.

    Thanks in advance.

124 views and no responses? I think you're asking a little too much and too wide range of a question. Do you want my bank account number too?

We are here to share information but it seems as if you are asking where our honey holes are located and how to catch the fish we target there.

I apologize if my post offends you, but with 124 views and no responses my view of your post may be shared by others.

...or you could just say find some channels and fish the mouth for bass/ sauger. Bite will probably be tough but if you get hooked up it could get exciting. Big Cats could be prowling the same areas so you may want to put some cut bait on the bottom. Not so sure he was asking for Longitude and Latitude. Just some helpful hints and tips. GO gettem Boondock!

I really don't have any advice as to where/what to fish for as I haven't caught a darn thing lately.

You can foget about the bass on it.......it's been the worst I've seen it in recent years for bass. I've been hearing a lot about the catfish this year though. I've caught more cats by accident this year on a crank than I can recall in quite some time. Most all have been up on a main river flat/bar in about 4 ft of water.

Well, i dont got a boat so i have to fish westport.
But i will tell you last night i hooked a cat on my 10ft rod. Snapped my 20lb test after awhile because it got wraped around a log. i was quit mad. So it does confirm that there biting(cats). of course it might be better if your in a boat. now time to go get some stronger line

Boondock; What and where don't seem unreasonable to me, so I'm telling you to fish the Fall's. Be careful, don't get killed, throw stick baits for striper, fresh shad or skipjack for the monster cats. It's a State park, not somebody's personal honey hole. 1-502-775-5056 for lower gage water levels. If you're a newbe, don't go exploring if the water is over 11...it's a great place to wreck a boat or drown. Have fun.

I echo KyDR, be careful below the dam. I have fished that area for almost 30 years and still ruin an occassional prop. Highly recommend taking the SS prop in favor of an aluminum one. Lots of currrent also, so keep the life vest handy.

    Re: Ohio River

I'm not out to get the location of anyone's "honey hole" I was hoping someone would be kind enough to share some fishing "trends" with me. For example which species to target (would prefer something beside cats, as i fish for them from my back yard on the ohio, multiple times a week.) Simple answers like, "the _______ are running deep into the tributaries to spawn, I would target the deep pockets of water" or "_______ have been found on sandbars"

    Sorry for the confusion.
