    Guist Creek

I have only been to Guist Creek a couple of times with no real success. I am scheduled to fish a small tournament there in a couple of weeks but have no game plan at all. Is anyone out there willing to share some things that might help? I also heard that acouple of weeks ago there, the daytime water temp was 100.
Anything you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure dynamite would work. I would drain the lake. I fish Guist Creek only because I can't pull my boat very far. I HATE that lake. I wish I had some good advice, but I don't. Sorry and good luck. The winning weight should be about 4-5 lbs.

This isn't going to be tons of help, but it's better than nothing.

Fish deep and in what looks like the middle of nowhere. Fish places you wouldn't ordinarily spend a second by looking at them. Crawl a jig, C-rig or T-rig and maybe you'll find someone's sunken brush pile.

The tournament is on the Saturday the 14th. If you notice anything that might be noteworthy, please let me know. I am usually decent at putting things together or at least developing a plan. Right now- I got nothing...haha...Thank you for the offer.

    Re: Guist Creek

Well, i have fished this lake a lot in the past. I have my best luck from feb-april. After that its like the dead sea for bass for me ! I usually concentrate on the channel bank on the right hand side headed towards the dam. But if you head the other way towards the bridge and find where the channel switches from one side of the lake to the other and fish where it breaks off one bank headed to the other side of the lake is the only place i have caught bass this time of year. But that dont always work either. There are some big bass in there. 2 bass over 10 pds have been caught in there over the last 10 years ! There are only a handful of lakes this close to louisville that have produced 10+ pd. Bass. I would fish with small plastic crawfish like a zoom speedcraw in watermelon/red or pumpinseed. This time of year i would stay with a small type finnese bait. Good luck jc

I appreciate all the input and suggestions. This is going to be interesting and hopefully productive. I fished small tournaments for a lot of years, mostly at Beaver Lake when it was in it's prime. After looking at a map I found on the KDFWR website, I have a couple of areas I want to hit. I'll also take some of the info gleaned here and give those a shot. If those don't pan out, I guess we will just beat the bank and try to scrape up some slicks. The main reason for writing is to say thank you all for being willing to help. It is much appreciated. Also, I look forward to hearing from bassman_ky whether you get on fish or not. Please let me know how the tournament went. Thanks again.
