Check your transom. There should be a metal plate that tells you the max pounds in the boat, max people, and max hp for motor.
My 14' Alumiweld jon is 60" wide and max hp is 25.

the plate has 25hp max, 5 person and weight 550pd. but is it ok to have a 30 hp on it.legal
NO
if it dont sink its legal!
on another note, my boat has a 175 on a 150 rated hull and dnr complimented on how fast it probably was,and said there is no law against it
I think the only person that may have a problem with it is your insurance agent.
I would think the boat can handle it just fine and I doubt you would ever get checked for it either. What price range are you looking for? I have a 99 model 25hp mercury I would part with, but you have to take a 16-48 with a trailer to get it.![]()
1000 and under. what are you saying 16-48?
is it a 2 or 4 stroke and electric start or not?
