14ft jon boat ? about motor 25h max. hp

i have located a 30hp motor in my price range. but dont know if it is legal to use it on my boat. anyone know that is ok

Check your transom. There should be a metal plate that tells you the max pounds in the boat, max people, and max hp for motor.
My 14' Alumiweld jon is 60" wide and max hp is 25.

on another note, my boat has a 175 on a 150 rated hull and dnr complimented on how fast it probably was,and said there is no law against it

wasnt a problem with mine...besides...how crazy can you get in a jon boat with a 30...lol

I would think the boat can handle it just fine and I doubt you would ever get checked for it either. What price range are you looking for? I have a 99 model 25hp mercury I would part with, but you have to take a 16-48 with a trailer to get it.

16 ft long, 48 in wide. 1000$ wont get it but 2500$ will. I would say you will be fine with the one you have but you will be legal with mine.
