Are you referring to the Evansville Wastewater Outfalls?
What about at the mouth of Pigeon Creek? Any water flowing out of the creek into the river or is the Creek at a stand still?
They say that the water flowing out of the sewage treatment plant ( during dry weather) is cleaner than the water in the Ohio River. Less sediment and they treat the effluent to kill any bacteria with either chlorine or ozone or ammonia. Chloramine kills bacteria well.
Perhaps that's the only fresh water flowing into the River these days, with this drought that we are having these last two months. Only .35 inches of rain fell in September.
Tonight I had to buy some Clariton antihistamine to help my nose stop stinging.
Driving around the area you can see the huge dust clouds billowing up behind the farmer's tractors. That dust seems to go for miles once it's stirred up. With all the pesticides that are applied to the crops and that settles and remains in the soil I am sure that half of the Atrozine they sprayed this spring is going into my nose this fall.
I'll sure be glad when we get a drenching rain fall. Hopefully sooner rather than later. We need rain to settle the dust and to raise the water in the River and lakes.
I saw a lady buying 3 gallons of "spring water" this evening at the local Walmart. She said it tastes better than the City water and at this time under these extreme low river level conditions I have to agree with her. Normally I would not suggest anyone drink "SPRING WATER" as according to USEPA more than half of the Ground water in the USA is contaminated with some sort of chemicals. Either pesticides or Nitrates from the fertilizers that are applied to the farm fields and lawn each spring.
I only would drink water that has been filtered though several different types of filters including Reverse Osmosis and activated charcoal.
I prefer the Aquafina Water from Pepsi. I have tested it's conductivity and it does not conduct hardly any electrical current. That means that it's so pure that there are not chemical ions in the Aquafina Water. That is a good thing boys and girls.
Water that's been run though a fiber based pre filter, an reverse Osmosis filter, a couple of ion exchange filters, an activated carbon filter and a bacterial filter is the type of water (grade 1) that the astronauts drink in outer space. You can filter your own pee though this type of water purification system and drink it. The only thing that gets though all those filters is pure H2O.
Aquafina has a conductivity of less than 2 micromohs/cm. That's good pure water.
Fish like Pure water too.
Just imagine what all types of chemicals are being dumped into the Ohio River these days. And with so little rain water diluting those chemicals there is no way in H that I would eat any fish caught out of the Ohio River. Not knowlingly at least.
But the fish are still fun to catch and release out of the Ohio River. It's too bad that the USEPA can't stop the pollution from going into the River. Lots of people still eat fish caught from the Ohio River. I guess they either don't know any better or don't care about what they put inside their body, until it's too late and the doctor gives them the bad new. You have cancer.
