Fishing Ohio River Powerplant's hot water discharge

Went fishing New Richmond powerplant (Beckjord) today. I was informed that it off limit for 500 ft from the powerplant per Homeland Security. Has anyone run into this on any of the other Ohio River powerplants?

I did right after 9-11 at a power plant here in louisville, it was funny,, it was about 11pm and i was sitting there catchin the crap out of fish when i heard somebody hollor at me tell me there was no fishing there that for me to come to the bank,,,looked up and here comes a cop. Well he kept holloring for me to come there as he tryed to walk down the rip rap,,I was in a fiberglass boat and i wasn`t doing anything wrong so i told him i would get to the bank there on the rocks,,,well he got all kinds of mad and the next thing you know,,,he busted his ass in his cop shoes,,,and the last he seen of me was my motor slipping off into the dark and heard me laughin my ass off....but that was the only time i ever had anybody say anything but ask me if i was doing anygood,,,it`s silly,,,cause if i was a terrorist i would try a coal powered power plant,,,i`d fill my boat up with explosives and run up to the hydro and blow the hydro,,,do more damage

As much as up value the river Doug I'm surprised you'd publicly advertise the best way to damage it. Besides, we are our own worst enemy/terrorist to this beautiful world of ours.

Btw. We gotta get to the river bro. I've been busier than a puppy with two peckers.

Doug that reminds me I have a houseboat at KY Lake and right after 9/11 the water patrol would go out every morning at about 6:00. They went in front of the dam in their boat and they drove back and forth in front of the dam until about 5:00 then they would go home only to return the next day. First of all they could have done the same thing anchoring and second they could not have stopped a boat coming at the wide open. Plus I guess they thought terrorist only worked 9 to 5. We all got a big laugh at this. I guess your cop did not know he could let his guard down at night.

First I've heard of it and I've fished all the powerplants on that pool this year. I fished Beckjord a couple weeks ago and didn't see any signs or get run off. Maybe it's just something new until all this cargo plane bomb crap dies down. BTW, were there any skips there?

Lots of small 2 inch shad minnows. I didn't fish on the outside of the barges that is where the skipjacks usually are. I know the tugboat capitan tried to run a friend out last year and he refused to leave. There are no signs posted or anything.

there are no signs around the gambling boats either but i've talked to a couple security guards over there that told me the coast guard doesn't allow fishing within a certain area around the boats. they told me the CG run people off all the time, but they never mentioned anything about people fishing discharges getting run off, and there are ALWAYS boats fishing the discharge across from the boat. I envy them everytime i have to go over there
