    15 degrees and fishing

Fishing below the CR dam last week in the cold, hands held up warm with exam gloves, vaseline on fishing pole eyes seemed to help ice build up. Unfortunatly ran into new unexpected problem. Line was freezing up on the reel. Needles to say had to abort fishing because of casting problems. Just had artificial lures. This week will go back to bait fishing on the bottom to cut down on the casting and line freezing on reel. Anyone run across this problem of line freezing? Hate to think of spraying de-ice on my reel.

try some reel-magic, line won't freeze and keeps it limp so it casts better JMO

my bad ccoombro should have said that Reel-Magic is a line dressing, it comes in a spray can, works well on the reel also, just spray it on the spool and spray it on the rod to, helps keep it from icing, you can pick it up at your tackle shop, hope it helps you, I always have a can in the boat

Yeah I got your drift. I've heard of that and seen that stuff before. Wasn't serious about the shad flavor.

One other thing I used a few years ago when temps in the low 20s...a small spray bottle filled with windshield washing fluid...seriously.....did not damage the mono, and kept the icing away...had smooth casting, and it's cheap.
