If i was a betting man i would say it is elbow to elbow behind Mcalpine right now and more boats in the dog pond then should be the water level is 12.48 feet. http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydro...lmk&gage=mlpk2

Went to newburgh dam ohio river kentucky side from the bank by the dam and rocks and caught 4 hogs of pumpkin seed twisters. I would have to say that the water is just right. But is gonna come back up in 3 days. So my advice if you like to jig fish better doit it soon otherwise it will be minnows for a while. Did anybody or has anybody did good over the weekend or in last couple of days. I will be returning in the morning and i will let yall know whats up for you sauger fishermen out there. Good luck!!!!!!!![]()

its really not though you can see about 2 feet down or alitttle more. i just dont think for some odd reason they are waiting to come in heavy maybe to much bait this year and right now the bait is in front of the dam the seagulls were tearing the bait up today right in front of the 6th and 7th gate so i mean they r close just not over there if the bait would move they would i dont know thats my opinion.
Fished below Meldahl this morning. Didn't get a bite. Used 1/4 oz jigs with several different color curly-tail grubs. By no means am I a Sauger expert so maybe others did better.
well i went 4 days in a row all in the morning and they didnt start biting till 8:00 am i caught a total of 11 sauger all big but out of all fishermen boat and from the bank i saw maybe 30 out of all 4 days. So ya the numbers r low this year for sauger. But i will tell u this the river is going back up again when it comes back down which it will do we will do much better, why well my observation was there was way way way to much bait this year before the river came back up around thanksgiving the bait was so thick you couls walk on it like a black sheet floating in the water. But when it came down alot of the bait was gone and they started biting better then when it was down so soon my friends the sauger will be alot better later in the season when they turn on they turn on and its on. you know what i mean
Think they went into hibernation this winter.
