Help With Fluorocarbon?

Seaguar Invz-x, Abraz-x, and even the cheaper Red Label have all proven to be great line for me up to 12lb at that point i switch to Berkley 100% because I seem to detect more bites with it, that is up to 15lb - I never use any heavier than 15lb never found a need too, I can barely break off a good snag with 15lb so see no need to up size any more. I have tried everything and anything except the $40 for a 200 yrd spool stuff and I have had ver little trouble out of the Seaguar. My recommendations are:

8-10# on shakey heads
12# on T-Rig
15# on C-rigs and Jigs

Again just my recommendation - for me this group has been tried and true for 4 years now IMHO

Not sure Fluorocarbon is not an other way for manufacturers to sell expensive line? What bothers me it has been touted as being invisible . . but the other day a well noted professional fisherman stated that he went down in diameter in clearer water ??? . . . why would you change the size of something that is invisible??? Little bit of corporate hoodoo???? Just saying! I've fished it but could not tell much difference in what they bill it up to be! Lot stiffer! Educate me . . .

Flourocarbon is not invisible. I haven't seen any ads that make that claim either. What it is, is LESS visible than monofilament or braid. The higher the rating (# test) the larger the diameter which increases visability. Therefore if you downsize your line rating then you decrease visability. But no line is invisible.

Seaguar Invis X is my preference. Just be careful with knots. You must be sure to wet the line well when sinching a knowt with any fluoro or you will hate it.

As far as visibility goes it (fluoro) has a light refraction closer to water which makes it LESS visible than mono. Fluoro is a stiffer line (less stretch) which in turn makes it more sensitive. This stiffness has its advantages and disadvantages as well.

No matter what line type you use the smaller the diameter you can get by with and retain the tensile strength you need for the application you are using the better for two reasons.
One is the obvious sight thing the smaller the harder to see. But dont forget that our fish FEEL vibrations as much as see our lines, therefore I suspect a small line may be felt less as well. Our lines in the water would be no different than a guitar string.

Seagar Invizex is my favorite. I like it so much, I invested in the 3000 yard spools of 8, 10, 12 and 15-pound test. This stuff is awesome!!!

There was an independant company that tested pretty much every brand of line on the market. From strength, invisibility, knot strength, tensile strength, castability, price, pretty much everythinh. It might have been tackle experts or somebody else that published the results. Each line had it's own niche that made a part of the test its best but NO LINE NO LINE NOT ONE SINGLE LINE across the board swept all the top spots. Not just because I said it, because I knew it before I saw the report, BPS XPS rated near the top more consistently than all the other lines. This is what I use and never had an issue

Didn't BPS change the manufacturer of their XPS FC line? I've heard that the older stuff was really good and the "newer" line that's coming from a different manufactuerer wasn't as good?

I think we could trade tackle and never notice any difference. Seaguar is hard to beat. I like Invis-x up to including 12 pound. I like standard seaguar for 15 and over - it is a little more stiff than the invis-x but I like it.

I don't know about the manufacture change but I have been using it for several years and NEVER had a problem with it. I also make sure that I don't leave my reels or any other line in the garage over the summer. The cold won't hurt it but the heat will over time. I use a Palomar knot, wet it very good, make sure the knot is tied properly and NEVER had a knot slip or any other problems with the line.

I like InvisX, but still been trying everything else because of price. Least year was very disappointed in p-line floroclear! Had to retie nonstop and still lost fish. The coating seem to nick to easy. Halo was Ok. AbrasX was great but feels a little stiff (heavier lb tests). Going to try the new Vicious pro elite 100% for spinnerbait and pitching. Hope it feel better than the old stuff because it felt nicked/rough right off the spool. But it will be on sale at BPS spring classic sale.
Also been experimenting with braid & flouro leaders on open bails with alot of success, especially for jerkbait fishing. The fireline crystal did better than the spiderwire invisi-braid. Both used invisX 8lb leader. Hope this helps.

Several mention PLINE floroclear. This is hybrid line like Yozuri Hybrid not a pure FC. I actually fished the Floroclear in 15# for years with great luck but that was +5 years ago.

With good FC, you will feel more of the bottom. If you don't try another one and do A/B tests. I recommend anyone fishing new line put weights on it and test the knot and line strength. Had I done that several trips would have been more enjoyable for me. When I have a line that tests the strength in my basement then I fish it around rocks in an A / B style test with same rod/reel/bait but different line.
