SEC / Big East Basketball Challenge...WHO IS THE BEST

All year long we have been argueing and bickering back and forth about who's team is better or who's conference is better FOR THIS YEAR ONLY. The Conferences of discussion are the Big East, Big Ten and SEC FOR THIS YEAR ONLY.

The best school FOR THIS YEAR ONLY between Louisville, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee is by far Kentucky. They are still alive in the NCAA, won the SEC tourney where as Indiana never made the NCAA tourney, Louisville went out early as did Tennessee and neither of them won their conference regular season or conference tourneys. So for THIS YEAR ONLY the best team of those that have been mentioned here the most is Kentucky.

As far as the best conference in america goes, the Big Ten does not have a leg to stand on for they did not put a single team in the Elite 8 much less the Final Four plus their BEST team was defeated head to head on a neutral site by a SEC school, so the Big Ten is OUT of the running for the best conference of this year. That only leaves the SEC and the Big East. Which brings us to Saturdays matchup with UCONN and Kentucky. Neither of them won their conference regulars season (but neither of them had a totally unrespectible conference regular season either) but when it counted the most both teams won their respective conference tournaments. Both teams are still alive in the NCAA and are the sole representatives of each conference. Which brings me to my challenge.

I, ELNUTSMALLJAWS, is willing to put the title of BEST CONFERENCE IN AMERICA on the line in tomorrows game between Kentucky and UCONN. If UCONN wins the game then I wm willing to put up a post congratulating them and also recognizing the Big East as the best conference in america. I will bow to the greatness of the Big East and will agree with any and all comments in regards to how great the CONFERENCE is until the start of the regular season of college basketball whenever it is again in 2011. I will agree to the greatness of the CONFERENCE ONLY. This does not cover individual team comments for individual teams are covered in the CONFERENCE, and therefore I am not obligated to agree to individual team comments.

I believe Kentucky is the best team left in the NCAA and certainly better than UCONN, so much so that I put forth the above challenge to ANY and ALL Big East fans or anyone else that choses to root against UK tomorrow. If there are any ladies and gents on here that wish to join in on the fun, then post below and state which team you are for, UK or UCONN. But by agreeing to post below, you agree to the same terms and conditions that I listed above either on the SEC side or Big East side.

Now I already know a couple that will post for the Big East side (no names mentioned) and I know a couple that will post on the SEC side (the winning side by the way). Lets see where all the loyalties lie when all your chips are in the middle and you are sitting there to see if they will call or not. I say I am ALL IN on THE BIG BLUE and THE SEC!!!!!!! GO CATS!!!!!!

Elwood, UConn finished ninth in the Big east regular season which is why they had to play five games in five days to witn the conference tournament. They went 9-9. I wouldn't exactly call that exactly respectable. Now what they have done since then has been great.

Naming the best conference based on this game is a little shallow. The SEC only got five teams in and three of them lost in the first round. That doesn't make the conference good, it makes Florida and Kentucky good.

I take back one of the people chomping at the bit to sign up on the side of the Big East. UCONN drilled Kentucky, UCONN the higher seeded team, UCONN won the conference tournament of the "supposively" toughest conference in america. I am offering up taking Kentucky against a Big East team that already beat Kentucky. A Big East team playing "great" in your own words and you are not accepting the challenge. I AM SHOCKED, ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED!!!!!! Yes, the SEC got 5 teams in and 3 lost in the first round but 2 went to the Elite 8. The Big East got 11 teams in, that is over twice as many as the SEC got in, and put 1 team in the Elite 8, that is half as many. Unlike the Big East with 246 schools, the SEC East plays round robin home and away so teams like Georgia, Tennessee, Vanderbilt had to play at Kentucky and at Florida plus play them again on their home turf. There are schools in the Big East that only played Pitt, Notre Dame, Louisville, UCONN and the other "so called" good schools of the Big East 1 time. Louisville played Pittsburgh 1 time and it was at home, played Syracuse 1 time just for an example.

I am absolutely SHOCKED that a fan of the Big East would not relish the opportunity of supporting UCONN in tomorrow's game. UCONN that drilled Kentucky early in the season, UCONN with the most dominating player left in the tourney and 1 of the most dominating players in the country period, UCONN that won 5 games in 5 days - 4 of which were against ranked opponents in the Big East tourney, UCONN that beat an Arizona team that looked unbeatable against Duke, UCONN of the Big East Conference, plus the fact that it is an opportunity to SHUT ME UP about how not so great the Big East is and how good the SEC is, SHUTTING ME UP!!!!! Are you kidding me!!!

I was for sure without a shadow of a doubt that Tim T would be the first one to jump at the above opportunity. I admit that I am wrong and the world is flat and cows can jump over the moon. SHOCKED!!!!!!

A whole lot of smoke and mirrors being blown around here all season long of how great the Big East conference is/was when the PROVEN best team in the Big East conference UCONN, who won 5 games in 5 days even taking out the regular season champ Pittsburgh, regular season 3rd place Syracuse and regular season 4th place Louisville on the way to the conference title. No doubt UCONN was the best team in the Big East at the end of the season. Kentucky beat Florida 2 out of 3 meetings and the 1 loss had a 3 pointer to win the game at the buzzer go astray. Kentucky won the SEC conference title beating the snot out of Florida on a neutral floor. No doubt about it Kentucky was the best team in the SEC at the end of the season. SHOCKED that you are not backing UCONN in this challenge!!!!!!

Kentucky Fried called and they are looking for their product. I told them that a certain team from that certain city who happened to choke on said product bones when they played that other certain team form their own state in the first round of the NCAA had stolen their product and was refusing to give it back. They have changed the name to Kentucky Fried Potato Wedges and Coleslaw. Their new slogan is "Chicken is for Losers, Winners eat Taters and Slaw"

2 hours and no takers, SHOCKED!!!!

I am going to get road hard anyways if UCONN wins the game but just think of how much better it would be if you announce your loyalty for UCONN before the final buzzer sounds. Anybody can pick a winner if the knows the final score. The thrill of knowing Kentucky is out of the tourney, a Big East team put them out of the tourney and Elnut has to acknowledge the greatness of the Big East for 8-9 months or so there about.

Re: SEC / Big East Basketball Challenge...WHO IS THE BEST

Georgia and Tennessee were beaten by teams seeded higher than them. Vandy was the only SEC team upset in the First Round. Florida was upset by an 8 seeded Butler team in the Elite 8. Kentucky, seeded #4, beat a #5 seeded West Virginia team then #1 seeded Ohio State, Big Ten champs, and then #2 seeded North Carolina, ACC Regular Season Champs. SEC is 6-4 overall and soon to be 8-4 and a National Championsip Team in the Kentucky Wildcats.

The Big Least put 11 teams in the tourney. That faired:

Villanova out in round 1, seeded 9 lost to 8 seed
West Virginia went 1-1, beat the team they should lost to a higher seeded team
Marquette went 2-1, upset 2 teams and lost to a higher seeded team
Syracuse went 1-1, beat the team they should lost to lower seeded Marquette
Louisville out in round 1 to a lower seeded team
Georgetown out in round 1 to a lower seeded team
Notre Dame went 1-1, beat a team they should then lost to a lower seeded team
Pitt went 1-1, beat a team they should then lost to a lower seeded team
St Johns out in round 1, lost to a lower seeded team
Cincinnati went 1-1, beat a tean they should then lost to a higher seeded UCONN team
UCONN is 4-0, beating 3 teams seeded lower than them and 1 team higher than them

11-10 overall, really 11 total victories with UCONN having 4 of them out of 11 teams. Thank goodness for Marquette upsetting 2 teams or they would have a losing record overall. Only 1 team made the Elite 8. Syracuse, Louisville, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and St Johns were all beaten by teams seeded lower than themselves. 6 out of 11 teams sent home in games they were favored. Villanova could be included in this group for they were a 9 seed beaten by an 8 seed but the betting line had Villanova a favorite in the game, but by using the seeding only more than half the teams in the Big East were eliminated by teams seede lower than them. Not just an 8-9 or 7-10, were talking 11 over a 3, 13 over a 4, 11 over a 6, 10 over a 2, 8 over a 1 and another 11 over a 6. 5 teams in the Big East were eliminated by double digit seeded teams. The #1 seed was eliminated by an 8.

The proof is in the pudding. The SEC had 2 teams out of 5 eliminated by lower seeded teams vs 6 teams out of 11 were eliminated by lower seeded teams. The SEC had 1 team out of 5 eliminated by a double digit seeded team vs the Big East had 5 out of 11 teams were eliminated by double digit seeded teams.

The Top 5 teams that finished the regular season in the Big East, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Louisville, St Johns and Syracuse were all eliminated by DOUBLE DIGIT SEEDED TEAMS.

I am not saying the SEC is the BEST conference in america but the proof says that the Big East sure in the hell is not the BEST conference in america. A one and done tournament may not always crown the best team the National Title but when that one and done tournament knocks out the top 5 teams in the same conference by double digit seeded team says a lot about that conference. I don't know which conference is the best conference in america but the ACC only had 1 team in the Elite 8 and none in the Final Four, Big Ten had ZERO teams in the Elite 8, Big East had 1 team in the Elite 8 and 1 in the Final Four. Only 1 conference had 2 teams in the Elite 8, put 1 team in the Final Four and the other team lost in OT in their Elite 8 game and that is the SEC. The only conference in america that a play goes this way or that a shot drops here or there and they have 2 teams in the Final Four is the SEC.

There are the facts you can make up your mind.

Re: SEC / Big East Basketball Challenge...WHO IS THE BEST

Still absolutely AMAZED that with all the smack talk that has been done all year long about this team that team this conference that conference that NOBODY has replied supporting 1 side or the other. I know that I will take heat if UK loses either of the next 2 games and especially if they lose tomorrow. But, it just won't mean the same for people to bust your chops after the game than showing total support for or against then bust some chops. I thought for sure there would be at least 8 or 10 that have already replied to this challenge. There must be computers with viruses all over fishin.com or there have been a bunch of smoke and mirrors displayed all year long.

If UCONN loses tomorrow and UK wins the title then the Big East will finish with a .500 record at 11-11 and the SEC will be 8-4. I am just saying. If UCONN wins the title then the Big East will be 13-10 and the SEC finishes at 6-5. Pretty big swing one way or the other, Mediocre SEC or The Big Least awaits somebody.

Absolutely knew without a shadow of a doubt you would be one that would step up and root against Kentucky, have not heard from some of my other guaranteed opponents (except for one) . I applaud you for your grit determination and cojones. Nothing like a diehard IU and Big Ten fan stepping up to the plate for the Big East and their invisible, of late, fans.
