Name an unusual method or way that you fish that works for you:

I throw a lot of what I call a "mini rig". Think typical Carolina rig, but all greatly downsized for more finesse.

1/4 to 1/2 oz egg sinker, two clear beads, lighter weight line and smaller baits. My leader is usally only 12-15" long. I use tubes, trick worms, 5 inch worms, baby brush hogs, etc. I also use this rig to throw flukes on the deep end of rocks or weed lines.

I've had great days of fishing using the mini rig. Most people laugh when they first see it, but I usually get the last laugh!!

I'm at the other end of the scale, I like using the biggest peice of bait I can catch for big cats. It's nothing to use a 14, 15 inch skip or a big buffalo.Most people see me reeling in my bait ask what I caught and I say nothing yet thats just bait...there response is what are you trying to catch Moby D!ck...my response is...If he comes up here...

{carolina jig} instead of using a carolina weight use a heavy jig. Then i cut off the gaurd and put a clip on screw retainer to the eyelet of the jig. Then screw a trailer to the jig and it will be weedless. I have caught bass on both the jig and the trailing lure. I cant remember the name of the clip on screw retainer but bass pro shops sells them.

Haha...I use that same set-up all the time, with great success! I also fish a fixed split shot about 18" up from my plastic all the time, great for working off banklines.

I've had great days of fishing using the mini rig. Most people laugh when they first see it, but I usually get the last laugh!!

I do the same. I never toss anything over 1/2 oz when rigging. When tossing a real light weight I use the Carolina Keeper and no swivel. The plastic is tight enough on my line to hold a light weight in place and I usually use a spinning rod with that setup.

i havent acquired one yet for lakes; but creeks i like to take fire tiger wild eye curly tail swimbait (cant find anymore) im not a fan of the flat tail at all.. but the swim bait and take a jig spinner, attach it in they eye and run it like a spinner ALL bass love it. also have tried this with a ribbon worm and it works as well.

When it's a bright sky, I'll skip a weightless senko far up under pontoon boats. I can't tell you how many quality fish I've caught doing this on just about every lake I fish. A word of caution however, if your cast misses the hole between the pontoon's motor and pontoons and makes a loud banging noise, game over for that spot and you may as well move on to the next boat.

I guess the one thing I do and it is probably is no secret, I'm a bottom bumper, and when my bait hits the bottom I will lift the bait very slowly for the first 6in to test if it has that wet sock feeling as I call it, lol and if it does I will come straight up and do what I call a pressure set, if not I will lift another 6in or so and before I let it fall I will lower the rod tip and bump the bate with the slack once or twice then let it fall, It may be too much action at times but it has served me well.

Sorry, I don't have any tricks to help. I have been using the carolina rig. I have not had luck with it yet but I plan to stick with it. I think I will downsize it sometime. I use a carolina keeper also; so much simpler if you want to adjust your leader.

When this was first thought of it actually was called "the Missouri rig", seriously - the use of a jig in place of a heavy sinker.
