I agree with this part because every time I hear about how Trickle Down Economics will fix things the same thought goes through my mind.

I like reading all the post on here, and I laugh out loud at a few of them. and not being mean by saying this, but reading some of the post, I think some of you guys sound like two little boys arguing, my dads better than your dad.

At the risk of being accused of "bringing up past Presidents," I'd like to ask this question: Why is it that when Reagan and Bush the elder told Congress it was critical that we raise the debt ceiling, it was done, without all that much argument, but now that a Democratic President wants to raise it, it's being fought tooth and nail?

Simple: politics and choosing ones party over country. Probably the same reason that the dems (including Obama) voted against raising the debt ceiling under Bush II. Its time to get serious about cleaning up in washington and vote everyone of these bums out of office.

About Ronald, check your stats, he had an unemployment figure of 9.7%,he raised taxes,he also had the debt limit increased several times.Like I said just6 an average president.I didn't hate him, he broadcasted some CUB games when he lived in Illinois, or at least made them available.

about Ronald again, ever hear or remember the term "voodoo economics" it was used by the first president Bush, regarding trickle down economics.

Excellent response, Andrew! KYGorski, a presidency isn't defined on stats alone. I don't think you're doing Reagan justice calling him "just average," although I do think that the idol-worship he gets from Republicans is over the top.

I agree with you....voting the bums out sounds like the answer, but unless there are new rules in place to govern the newly elected Congress, then how do we not know we'll not be in the same boat we're in now? Just voting in a new crop of people ain't good enough. There has been politcal abuse, scandal and lying galore...it's definitely time for a "change"....but how does it happen? Do the people take over the government? It almost sounds like it's time for a revolution of sorts.

How about these career senators and congressman?...Somone on this board mentioned that S.S. was not meant to be the sole source of income for retiree's, likewise, when the senate/congress was formed, was it intended to be someone's life-long career?

    Wished we had some answers...

OK no more about past presidents! But it IRKS me that history is always rewritten, and the truth buried. Its almost like that line "you couldn't stand the truth".

Don't forget that he gave amnesty to nearly 3 million illegal immigrants, scares me to just think about the outrage on here if Obama did that.

Reagan was a good POTUS but like Road Toad said I too think that the idol-worship he gets from Republicans is over the top.

I'm pretty sure the founding fathers never intended for folks to make a carear out of politics. I would have no problem with term limits to force those that cannot understand this, comply.

SS was supposed to be a back up plan. That way you knew you had something come once you retired. I certainly will not be using that as my sole source of income once I retire.

As far as voting the current crop of congress critters out, yeah, you have no guarentee that the next batch will be any better. The first time they come up for re-election, you toss them out on their butts too. Once this happens a few times, those running for office will, hopefully, get the idea. Problem is that right now politics is so devicive and cut throat that most folks worth voting for would not run. We have to change that. Keep voting in the same group of bums each time and things will never get better.
