Spiderwire Invisi-Braid?

Hello,

I was raised on monofilament line. It's good but recently I just got tired of the memory and stretch.

I went looking for something I'd seen advertised years back called Spiderwire.

Seems they didn't make the stuff I had in mind any longer, but they did have a couple more 'advanced' choices by the same maker.

I was after braided and ended up with something called "Invisi-Braid", 30lb test.

Now, this stuff is exceptional. I can cast about twice as far as with mono, and sensitivity is outstanding. Yesterday, the first time out with it, a small sunfish bumped a large bass lure and it felt like a bass struck!

However, I can't really say that I can see how this stuff is nearly as invisible in the water as is mono. I use polarized glasses and can see it just fine in clear water. I know fish have poor eyesight, but this just seems like it's pointing to me. I didn't see any track backs, but I was mainly out taking my kid and not really concentrating on fishing myself (he is 3).

What is your experience with this stuff? If it is indeed too visible, I figure a 12" to 24" mono leader will be in order, and though sensitivity will suffer a little, it won't be all that noticeable.

If you fish KY lake where the water is stained or muddy it won't matter. I caught plenty of bass using Braided line down there in the 1960's long before mono was around.

Now if you fish in crystal clear water then mono line may be better. You line must match the Refractive Index of water to be invisisble. Different types of fishing line have different refractive indexes.

Same here but I also like the Flame Green real well.

My fishing buddy is expermenting with Nanofill. Only used it one time, needs to cool off some so we can really give it a workout.

use braid exclusively... I thought the spider invisibraid sucked... Knot broke 4 times in the trip... Lost two frogs because fish broke the knot... Took it off when I got home... I use power pro or something like that... Never tried seagur but I'm happy with what I use
