So they finally made it illegal to catch and release stripers, was wondering about that. Guess you can't fish for stripers at all in case you might catch one short....better just leave them alone all together. Such a delicate little fish....

Not sure that is what he was saying. Even in salt water, the stripers were not very good at staying alive. The trick was to get them in fast, don't let them fight you to long. Not sure I will be eating them out of the river anyway, they are tasty though. I like em baked in butter and garlic, then flashed over the grill. Anyone around here fish in the winter? if so, what are you fishing for?

Rich is just having a little fun with Andrew over a super long thread on page three or four called Fish kill on Cumberland...an entertaining read if you have some time.As far as winter fishing I target big Blues,Sauger ,Saugeye,Walleye, and hybrids,Stripes at the warm water discharges. If your going to eat a fish out of the river I suggest trying the Sauger,as Tony the Tiger would say 'There GGGGRRRREEAATT' Chuck

Why are you not "allowed to fish in the mouth? As long as you aren't obstructing traffic, what would be the issue?

    Re: Ohio River Stripers?

You are allowed to fish the mouth and all of harrods creek. You are not allowed to fish in captains quarters marina. The marina is right past the mouth of the creek. They have big warning signs posted at the entrance.
