    Post Looking for a baitcaster.

Looking to buy a baitcaster. I have one right now but it is very cheap and you need to put a brick on the line to cast it farther than ten feet. looking for something in the $80-$120 price range. I'd like to hear your opinion.

I found a brand new browning, still in the box, for $25, at the barren swap meet. It is about $120 at b.p.s. If your in the bowling grn. Area, their swap meet is in cave city, i think in feb. Every year, and they have one at leitchfield ky also. You can get some really good buys at these,
i've bought the browning, some quantums, and many baits.... Tr

go with a shimano curado when they are on sale. they were right at 120 on black friday and will go on sale again im sure. by far the best reel ive ever owned and it will cast a mile without ever backlashing. cranks, worms, whatever it throws them all

I have the Revo, the Curado, the pro qualifier(bps) and recently hit Tackle Warehouse for a Pflueger Patriarch. The Pflueger is so smooth it is scary. Has 11 bb and and I would change all of my reels to that if I could afford to.

I use BPS pro qualifiers. Smooth reels for the money. Fished all last season without a single issue. I picked up a Johnny Morris this year (same as the Pro Qualifier) only it the CarbonLite. It's light and very smooth.

I second that....Curado is tough to beat. I use them to crank but you can do anything with them. At last count I have 6 curado's.

I have 6 also, like he said, ya just can't beat them. Bought my first one about three years ago...and I fish ALOT and have had zero problems out of them, none.

The curados are really hard to beat. I prefer the E series to the G but the G is still a great reel. The G can flat out sling some lighter tackle. If you can't find a curado in your price range try out a citica. My only complaint with the citica is the smaller grips. With that said I throw on some gripz and have at it. For the money it's hard to beat the shimano value.

    Re: Looking for a baitcaster.

I noticed several people on here have mentioned the Shamino Cuardo. They are made very well and are worth the money...however you mentioned your budget was 80-120. The only way you will find a Curado in that price range new is on sale.

The Shamino Citica is regular price 119 and it is also a good reel. On 3 different ocassions I found an e-bay seller that sold them new for 99. It has been a while since I looked at his auction site so I do not know if he still sells them at that price.

The Curado and Citica are both great reels but if 120 is your budget you may have to get a Citica...which is a great reel... I have 8 Citica's and some of them are 4 years old and I have had zero issues with them. I am slowly changing all my baitcasting setups to Shamino Citica. A friend of mine who has both Curado's and Citica's introduced me to the Shamino line of reels. He has used Shamino reels for many years. In fact he has an older Shamino from the late 80's or early 90's that is still very smooth. The key to getting many years of use out of a reel is to buy good quality "Shamino" then service/grease/clean them yearly.

I have 8 Curados...Look over on bassboatcentral and you can find new or very lightly used E5 or E7 in your price range....it'll be worth every penny...If you don't wanna spend toward the top of your price range I'd also highly recommend the old "greenie" Curados...You can find them for 80-90 bucks
