Has anyone read this?
I'm reading it now........interesting read. After reading a few chapters, I'm FURIOUS at the American people for not holding the mainstream media accountable for their actions.
In two cases Dan Rather out and out LIED to the American people......but the American people, for the most part.......let him slide.
In case one, he called the 2000 election in Florida for Gore before the polls closed. A LIE.......
In case two, he reported FAKE documents....we all know about that.
We will never know if the 2000 call for Gore affected the election, but I'm thinking it did. Hell, it might have cost Gore the presidency.
The way I look at it........just as many, maybe MORE dems didn't vote after Gore was declared the winner. Why would they........Just he same......Republicans may have went in GROVES, just in case........Maybe, maybe not. I don't know.
Bottom Line.......the Supreme Court elected a president.......by 5/4. While I think their decision was correct, I HATE the fact that the Supreme Court elected a president...........wow.

Rather wasn't the first to call Florida for Gore early, and he wasn't alone in doing so. That wasn't a lie, it was a bad decision based on a desire to be "first". The call was based on data from a company called Voter News Service that did what was supposed to be state of the art exit polling. Turned out, that exit polling was flawed.
The early call for Gore probably *helped* Bush, rather than hurt him because Gore voters who had not yet been to the polls got the impression their vote wouldn't matter in the outcome. As far as the media and public perception is concerned, Gore dug his own grave when he blundered by calling Bush to concede the election in the wee hours, even though Florida was still extremely close and a recount was required.
I would say whatever the catalyst was for defeating Al Gore was a gift horse to us all.
I agree 1000 %, could you imagine what might have happened with 4 years or even more with that nut case Al Gore as the POTUS....But nothing will ever replace the current POTUS as the worse POTUS the US has ever had to date......
I suppose history will tell us whether or not mr Obama has done us more damage than good... I don't like or dislike him for what he has done while he has been in office, I still believe he is a leaning Muslim and I don't believe that is good for our country, so far it doesn't seem that quality in him has hurt us... I do believe the only president of the last few that has been good for the biggest majority of us was Bill Clinton but I'm glad neither he, Mr Carter and especially Al Gore were not at the helm during the crisis in Kuwait and the 911 tragedy.
I had planned on washing my jeep today, but President Obama caused it to rain.
I will tell you guys and gals........No matter if you hate him or not, you should REALLY read the book.
It will bring to light "fresh" information about lots of decisions that make complete sense today. Kind of like "I told you so".
I've been fact checking some if what I'm reading and it is quite frankly UNREAL what this man endured, and what he managed to accomplish with regards to terrorism.

I agree the book has changed my mind on some of Bush's policies I am just abou done with the book it is a good read.
Maybe if that "nut case" would have been elected we wouldn't have gone back into iraq!Remember ONE fact, he did win the popular vote.As for the supreme court, they have to change the statute that makes them life long appointments. They shpuld not need to run for election per se, but could be recalled by congress. That decision that corporations are people was the death knoll for public rights to petion congress.
