Selling a Curado E-Series

I have a Curado E-Series(left handed) I am getting rid of. Its got some problems with it, I sent it back to shimano, they didnt fix it, and they suggested I look at it myself, which I did, and only further complicated issues

Whats wrong with it: Some kind of one way bearing or anti reverse feature is not functioning with the handle. Its completely random but the handle will go backwards anywhere from 1/2 to 3 full handle turns

2: I broke the long pin that mounts the side plate to the center reel. The line feeder also goes back and forth on this. by broke i mean the screw broke off in the hole.

3:after resembling the drag wheel is unresponsive to being turned in either direction.

I watched a Shimano Video about cleaning these reels and they said that the bearing in the antireverse mechanism should be cleaned and dry and not oiled or it will slip and ruin it. Why can't you just replace that antireverse bearing and see if that fixes the reels antireverse function.

The video said to not overoil the bearings. Just clean them with a Q tip and a dab of alcohol on the end of the Q tip. One drop only.

To oil the bearings for the first time (one time only deal) put one drop of oil on a Q tip and then lightly touch the Q tip to the bearings one time and wipe around the bearing. You only want a tiny film of oil to go on the bearings. After this initial oiling they suggest a routine cleaning with Q tips and a cloth after each days fishing and one a year more thorough cleaning and regreasing the drag washer and gears with teflon grease from Shimano. Don't use too much grease either. Just a little smear of grease on the finger tip and then rub the fingers together and only then apply some grease off the fingers into the Carbon Fiber drag washers.

Clean the races with Q tips and clean the pinion gear with Q tip and Alcohol. There are certain washers that are not flat and are concave and you have to put them back together so that they have a space between them. So pay attention on how things are installed on the reel before you take them off for cleaning and put them back on the same way. There are two springs under the side cover and you have to be careful not to lose them. And there is a plastic part that only fits back on one way.

What model year was the reel made. Perhaps you can sell it for parts. I'm surprise that Shimao could not fix it for you though. Where you trying to get it fixed under warranty? Did they offer to repair it after the warranty was out for a price?

I got the Reel in april of last year. I occasionally will fish with waders and one time out I tripped on a log and my pole submerged as i tried to catch myself. After that the reel started to grind pretty bad. After the season I called shimano and explained my reel needed to be worked on. they told me to fill out the reel repair form and it would be a standard labor fee (20 or 25 I cant remember) plus parts.

Sent it off (paid like 5 or 6 dollars in shipping). They called me to approve charges about a week later. I had to get 3 bearings replaced and they only charged me for one of them (10 bucks). I got it back a week after that and took it out on one of the warm days we had and fished just to get rid of some cabin fever. Well the reel went in reverse even worse than before. It seems to happen whenever i brought the bait out of the water, it would just fall back down like the spool was engaged.

So I called back and was said it wasnt fixed, and the guy recommened that they send the bearing and I could replace that part on my own. I declined and said I would rather them do it. That evening my impulses got the best of my and I dug into it to see if I could figure out what happened. Needless to say I only made it worse. Its a E7 201
