The auto industry, much like the boat industry is way out of whack. I ain't about to pay 40k for anything that drives...or floats, regardless of what propels it.
The federal government is whizzing OUR money away at historic rates. No limit to the billions this misguided left wing administration is willing to waste on trumped up green energy ventures.
Just watched a commercial on the Chevy Volt like it was the pride of Detroit??? Oh well maybe Detroit is a foreign country after all?? They haven't heard the news yet?!?!?
The good news is that the Volt production was just suspended not discontinued.
Inovation and progress comes at a cost and takes time to be accepted.
Look at the horseless carraige. What a silly machine that was noisy, unreliable and expensive.
The real story out there is the development of the liquid battery that stores a tremendous amount of energy. Can be placed in the power grid to store all excess power that is now being discharged back into the ground.
Everyone would do themselves a favor if they switched off Fox news occassionally and tuned into the science channel.
It's going to be awhile before the American public buys in to the Electric Car....we're just now starting to buy in to the hybrid....the range, the availability of charging stations and places to plug in your ride to re-charge, etc.
I'm privy to a lot of marketing data, being the marketing director for an automotive related company...so let's look at Kentucky's largest and most urbanized area, Louisville/Jefferson county.
As of 12/31/2011, Vehicle Fuel Types, based on Passenger Car and Light Truck vehicle registrations in Jefferson County...
Gas = 538,300 vehicles (94.88%)
Flex Fuel = 19,093 vehicles (3.37%)
Diesel = 6,580 vehicles (1.16%)
Hybrid = 2,933 vehicles (0.52%)
All-Eletric/Other = 427 vehicles (0.08%)
And that's in Kentucky's most urbanized area. You look at many other counties in rural parts of the state and there are no electric vehicles...as in none. What do you think the range of a Chevy Volt would be in Harlan County Kentucky in the summer with the Air Conditioning cranked?
Also of note regarding the All-Electric/Other category, those numbers catch the Chevy Cavalier that was produced in the early 2000's by GM that would also run on Natural Gas...there were a few of those sold...so all of those in that last category aren't even All-Electric Cars like the Volt.
There are Electric Cars???? So when I don't pay my Electric Bill and they cut off my electric, if my Car is not charged, how will I get to the Electric Company to pay the bill so I can charge my car?
Do yourself a favor, switch off MSNBC and try using your brain.The good news is that the Volt production was just suspended not discontinued.

The federal government didn't borrow billions and give it to those who developed the horseless carriage.
Naw, they just tried to build a bridge to nowhere a few years ago with 386million they wasnt using to help 50 people.If you havent noticed GM is doing quite well now thanks to obamas bailout and we will be repaid reletively quickly.
![]()
WAS the bridge built?? NO....
WAS 50 billion given to GM?? YES........
And 386 million is CHUMP CHANGE to 50 billion......Lets look at it a little differently.
$ 386,000,000
or
$ 50,000,000,000
Yea.......that is a pretty big ASS number.......
Repaid relatively quickly........RIGHT.....A debt-for-equity swap is not a repayment.
For the RECORD....
