We REALLY need to clean house in Education

This is the type of GARBAGE that needs to be eliminated. The teacher in this video is COMPLETELY wrong.

Of course, since the link is from Fox, it didn't happen.

The teacher does have some facts wrong, however IMO there likely is more to the story. From a few things said it sounds like the teacher and this student have a history, and while the teacher is wrong, the student sounds like a real smartalec that is trying to bait her into losing her temper and saying something stupid so he can record it and embarrass her. My wife was a HS teacher for some years and I have to say that today many kids are horrible, say and do horrible things and there is very little recourse for the teacher. Believe me some of the disrespectful and perverse things said to my wife taxed me not to want to drive to the school and confront these punks myself although I knew I couldn't do that. Administrations are just concerned about overall testing and keeping their funding and often don't really want to deal with any issues. Parents are not involved and complain if their child faces any trouble regardless if deserved.

So while I completely disagree with this teachers politics, and disagree with some of what she said, I will refrain from a quick judgment on the value of her entire career based on a secret recording by a obnoxious disrespectful kid and when I say disrespectful I mean towards the teacher, not to Oboma. She may be an awful teacher, or she may be an OK teacher having a bad moment after being badgered daily from some of her students. I am not in position to know the real truth.

I agree with you here to some extent..........THAT the kid is obnoxious, and secretly taping the teacher.

BUT to have a teacher act this way regardless of the taping is scary. She has a political agenda here. It sounds like they were discussing bullying and when the kid brought up a passage from Obama's own book about how he bullied someone, the kid asked a question about it. THE teacher shut it down because Obama is the President.

I don't get it......I bet this very teacher was all too happy to discuss Bush and his illegal wars, or whatever.

Bottom line, your personal political view has no place in teaching our kids.

Both of my daughters had one of the most vile RACIST black persons I've ever met as a teacher. She had a complete and thorough disgust of non black folks, and made it clear pretty much every day. I saw this DIRECTED racism more than once, and addressed it personally......multiple times with the school and the board, and the administration.

I certainly wont argue that she may be all of the things you accuse her of being, but she may be none of those things, I don't think we really know.

However we all come to things from our own experiences, mine from what my wife witnessed and went through, you from what your daughter went through. So it is understandable we each might have a different perspective when listening to the tape.

Funny thing.....I almost went into teaching years ago.

I imagine the very Union that I rail against ALL the time would have been working overtime to keep my ASS employed.

    Funny how things work out.

I agree to a point, SLP. But--any teacher who uses a political hit job like Romney's alleged bullying as a "Fact of the Day" obviously is more interested in political indoctrination than instruction. Forget all the stuff that happens on the video--that horrible judgment alone should be grounds for a reprimand.

Re: We REALLY need to clean house in Education

Just to be clear. I am no fan of the teachers union, quite the opposite. I do empathise with teachers and what they face in today's world. Matter of fact, my wife and I felt so strongly against what the teachers union does, that she refused to join. They made it very clear to her that if she would get sued or something like that they wouldn't help her. We discussed it and chose to stand by our principles and not support the union regardless of the increased risk we would expose ourselves to in doing so.

However I support teachers. My sister was a teacher, and I married one, I think they are often underpaid, under appreciated and often abused for the privilege.

As far as liberal teachers, while I have always grown up conservative with many of my views, I have to say I have had a few very liberal teachers, that were excellent and challenged me when supporting my beliefs in a way that required me to learn. I do though agree, and believe the pendulum has swung too far to the left. However IMO the real problem is liberal curriculum's directed from those further up the food chain then the teachers. Too often it appears there is now a orchestrated liberal agenda when it comes to school curriculum's. With individual teachers though, I think you can find good and bad ones from both liberal and conservative backgrounds. A quality teacher can be either.

All I am saying is from that tape I don't have enough facts to condemn someones entire career and conclude she should be fired.

You may very well be right, but we don't know what was discussed prior to that. Maybe they were following how the media has been covering the race and each day pointing out something that made the headlines. I remember when in school the Vietnam war was in full force. We often had to cut out the headlines of the day about the war to bring with us to class and we discussed them. Some headlines were pro war, some were anti war. They were brought up in class and the points of views were discussed. I have no idea what led up to this moment in the classroom. I can tell the kid was laughing at getting a rise out of the teacher, and knowing he was taping her, seemed to be purposely pushing her buttons in hope of getting her to lose her temper and get the reaction on tape. Which he apparently succeeded at doing.

Let me get this straight Geo. Your going to change the whole education system because of one teacher. Once again you proved you don't know how dumb you really are!

Yep the dumbest mfer on the board. Add something worth adding or STFU.

My point is..this teacher is obviously not worth a crap based on the 10 minutes I wasted listening to the tape. Maybe she had a bad day. Or maybe, she really does **** and needs to be gone.

Glad you think folks like that are good enough to be educating our youth. No wonder the 99% are occupying wall street.....THEY CAN'T spell their **** own names on the application to get a freakin job.
