Thanks for the report! How does the bite usually hold up in that area through the next couple of months? Crankbaits tend to be the staple? Thanks again.![]()

Water temp 80-83, fished from 8a-12p. Weather was ok but about noon, the thunder was getting close. Caught 6 bass-5 spots and one smallie all on crankbaits off of rockpiles in clearer water with current. Also got 2 large bluegill and a pumpkinseed on same crankbait and a gar on a small popper for a surprise. Largest bass was 16 inches with only one other over twelve inches. Going to try again at first light tomorrow, hoping for more current from the storms.

Has the river flow improved after the recent rains? Is it muddy?
Small crankbaits that dive 6-10 feet are my staple during the summer months. Colors vary as to the conditions but fire tiger is almost always good. Early and late I have caught some decent bass (4-6 lbs) on poppers and prop baits fished agonizingly slow around large root wads and stick ups away from the bank where there is current. If your up around the locks, the hybrids and whites can sometimes get into some ok jumps and senko or fluke baits are best when you are lucky enough to have one of those last longer than 5 seconds. The river can be very fickle at times and not make sense at all-but that is why I like it as it is almost always a challenge and you never know what you have until you see it. I have had days when I caught 6 or seven species of fish all on the same type bank on the same lures. Things start to change when the temp drops and the shad get bigger in the fall when spinnerbaits and larger cranks are best and there are more fish around laydowns and the occassional musky to scare you to death.
Sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks again.
