I am not sure who Marion is. I have never heard of askmarion before. Why do they not cite sources for their information?the information?

You cite snopes as one of your sources yet snopes says they have found this rumor to be fasle.

Urban Legands.com has addressed this clain and has found it to be false. Factcheck.org research finds this claim false..

Even the American Consevative Daily (a coservative website) has found this to be absolutely false.

For your benifit I will copy post their address to the issue.

According to Wikipedia, “Dhimmitude is a neologism . . . denoting an attitude of concession, surrender and appeasement towards Islamic demands [which] literally means protected and refers to a non-Muslim subject of a sharia law state.”Â
What makes dhimmitude relevant is that there are reports that the word and the concept are incorporated in PPACA along with Obamacare exemptions and exceptions for Muslims on page 107 of the law.   (See below for that page in its entirety and see http://bit.ly/hRakSK and http://bit.ly/cBE7rd.)
In point of fact, it turns out that it’s a hoax, an urban legend perpetrated by some overly-zealous, overly-imaginative Obamacare opponent who, for reasons of his own–and possibly driven to the brink of madness by the true catastrophe that is PPACA–fabricated the whole scam. There are no specific religious exclusions nor is there mention of dhimmitude on page 107 or elsewhere. Â

Bug you have to be careful playing on the internet.

I try not to get involved in these kinds of discussions but usually see the politics of most of them from the same viewpoint that you and a couple of others that take place in these topics... Back when this was rumored to be in the healthcare bill, I downloaded a copy of the thing ( again from the internet) and the copy I had did contain the so-called word that is in question, I don't think Miss Bug invented what she was referring to because I also read it and it was printed as it was stated by her... I do believe our president is either muslim leaning or muslim sympathizer and do not believe he is good for our country, on the other hand, Mr Romney would be a great president for the Mitt Romneys and the Donald Trumps of the world, I do not believe he has the best interest of the work-a-day americans and the middle class americans who ever they may be in his heart... I believe John Mccain would have been a safer candidate for the most of us... Losing jobs to other countries hurts us all but I don't believe losing jobs to other countries hurts us any more than the middle class losing income to the likes of the Mitt Romneys of the country, Every millionaire we create to add to the bunch we already have means the rest of us are losing ground, I don't think our treasury prints money for the sole purpose of growing our base of rich folks so that money has to come from the rest of us and the result is a shrinking middle class.

@ Hlleonard -- Thank you for proving my point.

Kydonkey writes a mess of horseshit about this and didn't even comprehend that I CLEARLY stated that "dhimmitude" was REMOVED from the original draft. I'll go further and say that it happened only after a firestorm was kicked up after it was called to the attention of some legislators who finally got around to reading the bill. Snopes accurately reported it was false AFTER the word was removed from the bill. I did not cite Snopes as one of my sources other than to clarify a point.

Any person with two brain cells would know that Obama didn't personally write the healthcare bill. Heck! He doesn't even write his own Thank You notes. Just to enlighten you, Kydonkey, every person on this board has a decent enough education that you don't have to be our school teacher and try to explain things to us that even you don't understand. You proved my point in your opinion that you wrote after you copied a few lines from Wikipedia. What you wrote (your opinion) in reference to dhimmitude makes absolutely no sense. I don't think you can comprehend this but lawmakers had a difficult time replacing that section of the bill to remove special provisions that had been made for Muslims.

Just because you didn't know about dhimmitude (this is probably the first time you ever heard the word) doesn't make it non-existent. Since you are the one in possession of the magic beans, it's obvious you have plans for them or you wouldn't have bought them. By hiding them in the barn, is it possible you were hoping to make some female goats appear?

It is a Urban Legand that it was NEVER THERE. Its is simply just not true. A crazy rumor. The bill was written by congressional committee members of congress. The legislators never included that word in an version of the bill. There was never any special provisions for muslims in any form of the bill. The word was not removed from the bill because it was never in there to start with. Now you cite that lawmakers had a dificult time removing the word from the bill. So we do not have the names of these so called legislators, who put the word in there or even a copy of the Federal Register with that word in a version of the bill.

A lot of highly educated people are scammed on the internet (craigs list, ebay, etc) every day. If you believe this garbage it is because you want to belive it. There is just too much evidence to show that it is false.e

My magic beans will work for you only if you believe.

Your second sentance wording "Back when this was rumored to be in the healthcare bill" explains a lot. This is a rumor....a false rumor. There is a lot of stuff on the internet and you have to look at the source.

Finnally we have a rumor from from the internet that is just not supported by facts. If there were any truth to this rumor why would it not be covered by the national news...not the bias libral medida but Fox news. Why have ultra conservative polititians like Rush or Santorum or Paul commented on this. Simply because it never happened and they would not risk commenting on something that never happened.

With all of the scrutiny this bill and all of the legislators that worked on this bill has had no one has ever brought this up or questioned it.
This would simply be a major story in the media if it were true.

I stand by my statements because they are true whether you believe them or not. Oh, I know it disappoints you to find out you don't know everything you think you do. I'm not going to sit here and have a pissing contest with you about this. I don't give a happy rats azz whether you believe me or not.

You remind me of my husband's step-brother. He had about a sixth grade education and would argue with people who talked about things that he hadn't heard or didn't understand. In other words, if he didn't already know it then it didn't exist and people were making up stories. He called us "educated fools" for having a college education; that was his way of trying to hide his ignorance. He's dead now and I don't miss him.

For those that have seen the text from the bill before these words were taken out....where did you get it? Still have it? Can you point us in the direction of it or share?

I also believe this to be fiction and would like someone to prove to me that it happened. When was the firestorm, who called for the removal, and why didn't we hear about it all over the place? I'm shocked that the media...at least the right-leaning media...wouldn't be all over it.

Please show me the error of my thinking.

I do agree with you in that it would have been a lot of fodder for rush's cannon, I was just saying that I had read a copy of the thing that was written like miss bug had stated so there was a copy of the thing running around the internet that contained that text, not saying if it was true or not, just saying it was there.

I know nothing factual about whether or not the bill contained this text and I can't tell you if when or why it was put in or taken out, it's doubtful I can find the copy I read this in... I looked on my computer for the thing but so far haven't managed to find it (sounds really suspicious doesn't it), if I manage to find the thing I will post it as a file as it has apparently been purged from the net... Not sure why I seem to be on this side of this discussion as miss bug and myself have never agreed on anything.

my friend, I vote both sides of the party line, Republican and Democrat. and I have very little love for either. I try to vote for the one that will help my household the most. both partys will spin anything to make them look good. I try to rely on the fact checkers, but don't trust them 100% but here is a fact check about the question on the health care and the Muslim people.http://www.factcheck.org/2010/05/dhi...exemption/lim-

The RNC has included Medicare Vouchers in it's official platform.

I wonder if the vochers will resemble the WW II ration vouchers for gas, bread and even beer.

Looks as if health care rationing is a possibility after all.

If we went to a more catastrophic insurance model where people were not using it to pay for things every day, then it could be considered spreading financial risk.
