Wow, sounds like it's really slowed down again......Hmmm
I just wanted to give an update, though not very good. I launched at the dam Tuesday am at first light. Pulled live shiners at about 40' across the dam and down the walls towards Indian creek. I saw no jumps but did keep catching 5-6lb cats at 40'!!! The wife was having a good time reeling them in though. Went to mouth of Beaver and Otter and pulled there for several hours. No luck. Did see a pretty good size jump directly across the main lake from Beaver/Otter mouth. Pulled boards up and fired up the pontoon and went heading towards them at a whopping 8 mph. Needless to say they were down when we got there and pulled boards all up and down that side of the lake. Wed am, went and tried mouth of Beaver Otter again, ( where I had caught keeper fish 1 week earlier), and nothing. Went to the dam and pulled the dam and walls again from Indian mouth to the dam and in the main lake focusing on the river channel. Still no luck. Pulled the boards up, fed the stripers the remaining dozen shiners and headed north.
Wish I had more!!!
Rob
Was out on the lake the 4th and 5th for my first striper trip, started trolling to the right out of Jamestown ,caught 3 small mouths trolling small homemade unbrella rigs, pullled out and heaqded towards the dam before I got to Beaver there was the first jump of the day, down before I could get in casting range . I still pulled out a Spook and chucked it for the heck of it. To my suprise got nailed by a 22" fish , let hime go casted again another about the same size. Let him go thinking this was going to be a great day looking for bigger fish. Wrong I searched and trolled all day with everything I had.As evening was approaching I figured I'd head back where I saw the first jump. Before I got to Beaver I saw a nice jump tried to approach slowly but they would go down before I would get in casting range and nothing was lingering around to get bit,so I changed my approach as mentioned in another post I just idled around until I saw a jump start and flew at them and coasted into the middle of them.Them jumps were comming up about every 5-8 minutes sometime I would have to go from one side of the lake to the other but what a blast ,caught 11 kept 2 kept at 24"-27". I even had a double, first cast out the spook, 2 twitches fish on,then grabed a hopkins spoon casted while the fish ran and a couple yanks fish on, that one went to the rod holder while I reeled in the first what a blast.
Spent the night at one of the cabins at Jamestown and went out the next morning same thing same area limited out by 730am, spen the rest of the day catching bass dropshotting of off of the main lake points, nothing to bui but plenty of fish in the 12"-16". Dragged a night crawler on a bobber behind me and caught severl nice channel cats in the 4-6lb range . Great day to be on the water.Sure makes up for the last trip where I got skunked
That's right, the stripers are jumping again. Last week there wasn't much action after the fronts came thru but after some stable weather, yesterday we were able to get into some good jumps again. We went out at 4:30 p.m. and got into 2 good jumps and about 2 or 3 small jumps hooking up with 5 and landing 2 of them. For some strange reason we kept having fish get off just before we could net them. Evidently they didn't like the looks of our boat or us but I know some days they just don't get buttoned up good enough. One thing that was different for us was where we caught them. Earlier in the day we noticed several striper boats between Wolf and Difficulty Creeks and even saw a small jump around 10 a.m. so that is why we went to that area in the evening. I have no idea how the jumps were in the usual areas, beaver/bug woods, but I would assume it happened there as well, maybe someone fishing in those areas yesterday will give a report. This is the farthest up the lake that we have seen any good jumps so if the lower end isn't good, you might want to give this area a try.
I fished on Saturday morning 10/13 down by dam and there was nothing happening. Fished across from Indian and at Indian with no takers. Saw a lot of boats come and go with no fish so I headed up river to Beaver and found quite a few more boats but no fish being marked and did not see anyone pull any fish. I was headed to Jamestown because I figured they were up there, but when I came to clump of boats in front of Beaver I idled through to check for fish and to not disturb them. But when I got through and leave as soon as I throttled up heard a bang, clicking noise. Pulled of the cowling and one of my spark plugs was laying on bottom. I just had it serviced with new plugs and someone forgot to tighten one up. Tried to retightent but the threads were buggered on the end of block so could not get it back in.
Pretty much that ended the day so no fish in boat and did not see anyone catch one either with plenty of boats around. I won't mention who did the service, they do good work and I trust them just a mistake was made.
So all in all lots of boats on lower end but not too many fish.
Thanks for the report. Not everyone is willing to report when they get skunked. Sorry about the motor/plug, but hoping the next trip out will be better.
Well I usually get skunked 2-3 times a year so just one of those days. If its not too windy later today will go see how they are jumping just before dark and let you all know.
I got out of striper mode for a while to concentrate more on saltwater in Destin, FL now time to get back into striper mode again in between trips to FL.
Went out of Jamestown last night just before dark. Stripers were jumping in decent size pods and would stay up long enough to get them and get hooked up once. One of the pods let me get 2 but had to reel in and release quick and get back in as going down. White/Green doll flys working best but top water was getting hit as well. Would not touch a Hopkins jig though, threw in 2 different schools jumping very aggressively nothing, reeled in threw a doll fly bam hit right away. All jumps seen were just outside of Marina straight across give or take a 100 yrds. Was only there in evening but others said they were jumping in morning along the wall but not staying up long. Guys were catching on umbrellas and live bait in morning.

PS: Now, want to thank you so much for sharing information. Thinking that's what this board should be about. Sadly, there are some here which seem to think, it you give a report, the scourge of the earth will descend on LC and destroy the fishery. They prefer to send PM to each other. Apparently they seem to be under the impression that they somehow have some god given right to the lake... (BTW, you know who you are, Aye?)

Went yesterday, dragging live shiners around White Oak Creek and Shinbone. Got skunked!
Had a couple pull downs, but dont think it was a striper. Hope to go some more this week, but it is very warm.
Dont any of you guys fish down here at the middle of the Lake? All reports seem to be at the Dam.
This time of year if you are Striper fishing you should fish the lower end of the lake from Difficulty Creek to the Dam and there is only one reason for fishing this area.........99.999999999999% of the Stripers in the lake are THERE!!!
The jumps should be great this week so come on down here and have some fun!
LOL
