State of Washington voting on legalizing recreational marijuana

That, in itself, isn't really surprising. What's interesting about this is who it is that's advocating the legislation.

I'm all for legalizing the stuff. It's not as bad as Alcohol and can supply a huge boost in the economy. Sure it will be regulated because the amount of money coming in would be staggering. Imo the antiquated laws on weed (and hemp) need to be changed.

I agree. I've thought for years it should be legalized and taxed. I just thought it was really interesting that this time it is the leaders of the law enforcement community pushing to have it legalized.

Either you have never been around stoners or you fit in that group itself. Everyone I know that has smoked it for a period of time suffers from a lack of motivation, iniative, and generally are pretty dumb. I should also add they lack any responsibility in their lives.

Your point about alcohol being worse is based on opinion, not in fact. I couldn't imagine more zombies walking or driving around, or couch potatoes waiting on their next gov check. Potheads are zombies

So true......the facts are that people of all ages smoke weed. Adults from the potus on down to lawyers, teachers and unemployed folks smoke or have smoked. There are so many other dangerous drugs out there and busting an adult for weed does seem crazy to me.

The medicinal use of weed is just another plus for the drug.

When I weigh weed against booze and compare the effects of both on people I can see where booze is waaay worse. Booze had its troubles getting legalized and weed will too but I think in the end it will be as common as booze. On a lighter note...all companies that sell Fast food, ice cream and tater chips will see a large boost in sales!!

Your way to quick to judge. Yep I smoked like a madman growing up. I also grew up and when I was a "zombie" I still managed to make a lot of good decisions. Never been arrested, always top of my classes and excelled in sports. Your assuming that smoking pot means you sit around and do nothing like you just watched some ridiculous propaganda commercial. I know many folks (business owners and pretty important people) who smoke. There are people who can make sound decisions without having the government dictate to them what they can do behind closed doors.

My opinion about booze being worse for folks than weed is based on my knowledge and my observations. How many women and children get beat up by a drunk fool each year compared to a chilled out person who smoked pot? How many people do you think die each year at the hands of drunk drivers compared to someone high from smoking pot? How many people die from alcoholism or liver disease compared to folks who smoke pot? Booze ruins a lot of people's lives and I figure so will any drug including pot but to allow booze and then frown on a drug that can help some folks who suffer from an illness or if used as a recreational drug is silly to me.

Unload all you want man we all lived different lives and I been around weed alot in my life. It's just a drug and you will always have fools, mental midgets, addictive personalities, losers, hard luck folks or whoever that cannot handle their business.

We allow cigarettes that can cause cancer, booze that can ruins lives but can't allow a weed that drives some folks to relax, eat and be happy?? I venture to say some of those folks you know are slackers anyway and pot smoking just accelerated their lack of drive, common sense and motivation. All I'm saying is that to me it's not the evil devils tool as portrayed by the media, law makers and law enforcement.

They have blown it so out of proportion that Hemp isn't even allowed to be grown because they are afraid people will smoke two hundred pounds of it and get stoned or people will somehow start growing pot in and around the hemp farms.......news flash......pot is already grown all over this state!! For the record I don't smoke pot. I do a lot of federal work that requires urine tests (at times) and I cannot imagine smoking pot and putting my job and future at risk because in the end it is illegal.

The potheads are a dangerous bunch. My favorite thing to do after smoking a metric ton is grab the nearest pistol, load up 6 bullets, undo the safety and twirl the pistol around my finger while walking thru the mall.

Then I like to get in the car and drive EXACTLY 54 1/2 mph and watch for people I can hit - you can always find unique ways to improve your playstation 3 skills in grand theft auto.....

Losers are losers...because they are losers. Or because they go to LSU. Not because they smoke pot.

I want to know how many people have smoked a little pot and killed themselves and a few others in a car accident ??

I'd also like to know how many people have smoked pot and flipped out and went on some sort of crime spree ??

How about the number of people who have overdosed on pot ??

The answer to those questions is a huge zero ........

Is it a gateway drug ???

Maybe but people who want to use harder drugs are going to do that regardless of the use of pot.

How many drunk driving deaths occur each year in america ?? A staggering amount of these in which most cases someone looses their life.

Legalize it , tax it , make legal money off of it.

A huge zero ehh? Ask me how I know you are a stoner that has done his research.
