When you can vote yourself Benefits............Democracy is DONE.

Two centuries ago, a somewhat obscure Scotsman named Tytler made this profound observation: "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."

I know it is VERY hard for simple minded folks, but please stay on point. Special interests, free trade and capitalism has NOTHING to do with what I posted.

I will not try to explain it to you........I'm tired of arguing with liberals, so called moderates or blue dog democrats......America Lost. All of America.

I don't know if or when it will happen, but it is CLEAR our democracy will collapse. I hope I'm dead and gone before it does.

On a final parting not........it is a **** shame those Mayans were not right ........or, maybe they were.

    simple minded?

nope open minded, I believe in cause and effect, no good deed is hardly altruistic. Also we quit being a democracy a long time ago, its more like an oligarcy. Its sort of lame to think that only poor get government benefits. But of course conservatives only have one view.

    its a rebublic

or was, democracy, rule by the majority.Since so few of us "majority" are ill equipt to deal with that, we are ruled by the few oligagcy. Your words attributed to tytler, are subject to interpretation.Did he even say them. I know we differ on many things, but our country is in trouble, its being sold out from under us. We are no longer a nation of laws, but becoming a nationof scheming lawyers.
