I buy Shimano Compre Rods, these rods come with a over the counter warranty. Good light and well balanced for the money. I have four of them now, and now ready to step up to a spincast Crucial for some good shakey head fishing. Good luck with your choice.

Abu Garcia Veritas, St Croix Mojo or Temple Fork Outfitters. I"d say any of these would be good choices for $100 The TFO rods get great reviews on Tackle Warehouse. They have a $99 rod that has a lifetime warranty.

Concerning the TFO rods - When you say lifetime warranty what does that cover ---

Also - I broke the tip off of one my shimano rods! Does anyone know what type of warranty they have?

    Falcon original

The medium action is set up perfect for anything from small cranks, jerkbaits and most deep divers up to the dd22 size. The medium heavy are great for all of your flipping and worm dragging. The poles are light with a nice feel of what you are doing. I have a boat full of them. I have some that are over 15 years old and steal kicking. I have moved up from the 6'6 to the 7'ver the years, but other than that i have been extremely impressed with these poles. They run around 89 to 99 bucks. I just ordered 3 more a week or so ago from tacklewarehouse at 20% off. Just couldnt pass them up at that price. Falcon has different models that are cheaper than the originals and some that are higher. The cheaper ones are the chinese knock of the original model called the hd series. They are around 60 to 70 bucks. I have looked at them and they feel and look alittle cheaper. The higher ones are the lowriders and the caras. The lowriders and the originals are about the same now since they are putting the lowrider guides on the originals. They have a few more sizes in this model but they are 120 to 140. The caras are the high end, but they are out of my price range to even look at. I am slowly giving more and more for fishing equipment, but i will not give it until i have to when i can get great products alot cheaper. I have never met anyone who has used some of my falcon originals who were not impressed with them for the price. I should get a kick back from falcon because i have made alot of sales for them this way over the years. Lol. What ever you get use it all you can.nobody has the time to go fishing unless they make it. Life is short. Good fishing.

As long as it's one of Shimanos rods with a lifetime warranty (most have it), you can either find a dealer and get it exchanged over the counter, or if you cant find a dealer that has the same rod you do, you can ship it back to Shimano directly....Their phone number is 1-877-577-0600 and they'll be able to stear you in the right direction....Their shipping addy is
    Shimano American Corp.
    1 Holland
    Irvine, CA 92618

They have the best warranty program in the business, hands down and I've dealt with most of them

    $100 Rods

I shopped some rods yesterday and found the following... First, Sportsman's Warehouse here in Lexington has signs posted that they will no longer give over the counter Shimano rods by warranty. I have no doubt Shimano customer service is top shelf though. I'm a Shimano fan and fish their reels quite a bit. Just thought I'd share that info...

Now, I did check out the following rods and really liked them! The E21 Wild Black rod was CRAZY LIGHT!!! I picked up a 7" MH and couldn't believe how light it was. $125 maybe... ??? Online reviews are not the best though. Lots of complaints about E21 customer service. The St Croix Rage felt really nice, too. I think it was $150... Keep in mind, I was looking at a rod for frog fishing. The Wild Black and Rage were light weight and had just the right fast tip/taper, IMO, for fishing a frog... Good luck!

Hmm, I assume my post was removed so I will reword it.

You don't have to drive very far in Lexington to find an outfitter that will do the over the counter trade in.
When shopping at Sportman's Warehouse in Lexington just keep in mind that they also will no honor their web prices for in store purchase so I wouldn't expect much out of them period. I went their this summer to buy a couple of Abu Garcia Revo SX's when the email I received said they were down to 129. They were 129 virtually everywhere except in the Lexington store. The official response by management is the Lexington Store does not honor prices in sale flyers sent by corporate, internet prices or otherwise. I'm not surprised at all that they do not participate Shimano's warranty otc trade in since they don't participate in their own company's price model.

Oddly, I really like my Wright McGill Skeet Signature Series cranking Rod. It is usually sold for about $89.00. I have GLoomis, St Croix, and Aubu Rods but really like the 7' cranking Rod with Shimano Curado Reel. My second favorite is my Loomis Shakey Head Spinning Rod. I can always count on it when fishing is stingy.
